We have to beat Philly first before we worry about Miami and LAL. Bynum might be better than Dwight Howard for all I know. Dwight Howard is better defensively, Andruw Bynum is better offensively. Can Jared Sullenger along with KG stand up to Bosh(Miami C), Bynum and Thaddeus Yonug, and finally Howard and Gasol.

LAL still has to deal with Oklahoma where Perkins will be waiting for Dwight Howard (HEHEHEHEE!!!)

Before we talk Boston vs Lakers in the 2013 NBA Finals, we need to find a way to beat My Hammy.....

I am glad to be in the discussion.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

Yeah, really great for us since D12 is West bound. Not worried with Bynum on the Sixers. He has weak knees.

We can outrun LAL. Kobe lets somebody else do the running for their fastbreak - he just trails. With Nash, him and MWP, include that with Jamison, they would have a lot of problems chasing our guys on the break. We have a bunch of reliable guys on the bench who could readily produce.

Now, can Danny please bring back the Canadian linebacker he wanted to bring in last summer. I guess that guy could block the path to the paint (tackle if he has to) of D12 and wear him out.

That's the thing. Lakers don't need too much production from their C with Kobe, Nash and Gasol. They "downgraded" their offensive punch at C to a ~20ppg scorer while upgrading their defense (assuming Nash doesn't negate Dwight -- which is in the realm of possibilities).

They are a better team with Howard, it's just a matter of how much better.

At first look, they new Lakers team looks perfect, but look a little closer..

1. Nash is 38 years old, and he still plays good.. He played his entire career healthy, and he's bound to have a devastating injury this year.. That's how it works.. And when Nash goes down, the Lakers go down..

2. Kobe is 35 and never had a bigger injury and each year he's getting older and older.. I think we're about to see a change is his game this season, but for the worse..

3. Gasol will be 33, and his game is wearing down..

4. Dwight has a bad back and I think he won't get used to the superstar enviroment in LA.. In Orland he was the main deal, but now they have Kobe, Nash, Gasol, etc..

5. Then again, we're looking at the Miami syndrome.. A team with awesome starters but a really bad bench.. Think not? Look at this:

Steve Blake
David Ebanks
Andrew Goudelock
Jordan Hill
Josh McRoberts
Darius Morris... The only decent guy is Jamison..

When you see it this way, the whole thing is just bound to fail at some point..Nash may get hurt, Kobe might get hurt and might begin to suck, Dwight might turn drama queen mode or injure his back badly.. They will also lose games cause of the bad bench..

Nash and Kobe aren't bound to get hurt just because they haven't been hurt before, that's called the gambler's fallacy.  They are a little more likely to get hurt because they're one year older, but they both are in incredible shape and neither is a very physical player, so they probably won't.  That said, the Lakers' lack of depth could hurt them if someone does get hurt.

what i dont like about this is Bynum in our division. even when we had perk we couldnt find an answer to a healthy bynum.

Collins might actually be a better matchup against Bynum than Perk was.  Collins has more length, which is more likely to slow Bynum down than Perk's strength.

thats cuz Dwight has no post moves at all, its always pushing his guy to the rim, turnaround dunk or hook shot. At least Bynum has a decent jumper near the free throw line and have some post moves.

Though Bynum is now in our division, Philly is not the same team. Now you can argue that they're a better team than last year, but so are we. You can also argue they are NOT a better team than last year is because they now lost Iggy, and Lou Williams bolted.

Season hasn't started yet, and I still like our chances if we are healthy. If we can get another serviceable big than I say we are all ready to go.

A lot of teams are built on dunks and threes for their offense, but the Celtics don't play that way. A dunk might be a high percentage shot but when it comes to opportunities per possession I'd guess that number is pretty low. This is why the Celtics have stayed relevant. Pierce and KG have terrific mid-range shooting and can hit free throws and Rondo's ball-handling skills are brain-melting. LA is going to have to get Howard a lot of open space to dunk which could be difficult with Gasol on the floor. Then, if you're forcing Gasol out of the paint, he turns into a Brandon Bass type of player. Bass is great and all but I don't see Gasol shooting jumpers well for 82 games, probably not even 40 out of the 82. I could go on, but the point is LA has a lot of work to do. I think the most important player on that team is Nash, but he won't get the attention he deserves.

Can't we just bring Gerald Green back?

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
76ers are a top 4 team in the East next season -

Jrue Holiday
Evan Turner, Nick Young
Thad. Young, Dorrell Wright
Spences Hawes?
Andrew Bynum

Scary Team.
I like Marcus Smart

I thought this trade would be good for the celtics when it was bynum and Gasol going out.  Now im not so sure
Ditto this.

Number one, I'm curious to see how much more Gasol has to give.  To me, Kobe seems to get down on him pretty easily.  Also, a crap eating grin on Howard's face after a screw up might rub some the wrong way too.  Here's to hoping that Steve Nash's likability doesn't offset Dwight as an annoyance.

Let's see...

Dwight Howard is now out of the Eastern Conference for good, assuming he stays in LA or eventually signs with Dallas.

Andre Iguodala is now out of the Eastern Conference for a few years.

The Magic suck.

Philly gets their franchise center who has yet to prove he can be a franchise center (though he's come close.)  In the process they give away the second best defensive wing in our conference who killed us in the playoffs last year.

How is this a bad thing?

Well to me it could be a bad thing because D. Howard and the Magic weren't competition to us anymore.  Their team wasn't any good with him so who cares that they don't have him.  Now taking a look at the 76'ers.  I think that Bynum makes them a better team if healthy.  He is a dominant big man on a good team.  They will move Turner into a more prominent scoring role role and Nick Young will be a scorer for them also.  Iggy to me was over rated.  Anytime you can trade for a good big like Philly did is a good thing.

I am curious to see whether they might try to swap a wing or two for a PF.

But they do have the makings of a very good team.

You might add well coached too to their strengths.  Collins is good with up and coming teams.

I think Philly need to make another move to address that Hawes @ PF situation in order to get into the top 4 in the East.

Right now, I'd say they are 5th or 6th.
