Iggy and Gallinari would be a pretty sweet combination on the wings.

Pity the rest of Denver's team is so mediocre.

I agree McGee can be hit or miss far more often than not. But Lawson and even Faried i wouldn't neccesarily consider "mediocre". They've got a very solid core there in Denver. If they pull off Iggy, a borderline All-Star every year, who fits unassumingly well and also provides greater D. For just Afflalo and Harrington is robbery. That former scout, now the GM, (Ujiri i think) is a mad genius. If this trade holds of course..

That would suck for the Magic, make 76's a large pain in the rear for the Celtics.... Would make the Lakers less effective for a while. Until Nash goes and they get CP3 and Kevin Love...it is THEIR god given right to have every good player.

Only GOOD thing I can see....is maybe Danny working a deal to get Pau from the Magic somehow in the future.

Magic would really suck and barely have a team.

If I were Orlando & LA ...I would DEMAND Bynum and Pau and get it over with.

If Lakers are TRUELY willing to let Bynum and Gasol go to get Howard......  then they should be willing to dump em both to the MAgic......I could live with this trade.

Flakers get Dwight and Harrington for Pau and Bynum basically? Yeah, that's cool.

Cleveland makes out like absolute bandits in this trade.  Trades away Varejao, Thompson, Walton, 1st rd pick and gets back Iggy + Bynum.

Philly trades away Iguodala + Vucevic and get back Pau.  I think Pau is a better fit for them than Bynum since they have no PF and have Hawes signed at C.

Orlando trades away Howard + gets rid of Turk.  Gets back T. Thompson, Vucevic, Walton (expiring), Varejao (tradeable), plus a 1st rd pick from Cleveland.

LA trades away Pau and Bynum for Turk and Howard.  I don't see why they would take Harrington and not Turk.

Because Turkoglu is worse now and is twice as expensive.  Instead of taking on Harrington's $6 million salary ($12 million after luxury tax), they'd be taking on Turkoglu's $11 million salary ($22 million after luxury tax).  And they'd probably prefer a power forward to replace Gasol.  Many reasons, actually.

Wouldn't the Lakers get a massive trade exception in this deal?

Incoming - Dwight (19m), Harrington (6m)
Outgoing - Gasol (19m), Bynum (16m)

That's a difference of about 10 million.  Or they might figure out some filler to throw in (like Josh McRoberts' expiring), make it two separate transactions, and get a trade exception for Bynum's full salary.

There will be fillers because Turkoglu is gone.

The Lakers won't be trading Pau and Bynum to get Dwight and take Turkoglu's contract too.  We've all got plenty of bad words to say about the Lakers, but stupid isn't one of them.

Turkoglu might be gone, but maybe to Denver?  Denver has the enormous Nene trade exception to take on extra salary, which is probably why they are in this deal.

Good point about the salaries.  I think they are both very meh players.

Ajusted trade:  http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=8vl4ghg

Similar basic idea, but LA trades Pau + Bynum and gets Dwight + Varejao + Glen Davis

Orlando now gets rid of Davis' contract instead of Turk, and receives Tyler Zeller instead of Varejao

What the heck is Orlando gonna do with Pau?  I agree this sounds fishy, but it'd be cool if it went down.

I would be excited to see Iggy get out of Philly.  I love his game and would like to see him in a fresh situation.

I'm sure ORL could flip Gasol to Houston for a prospect or two and salary relief.

Which means their return on Dwight Howard would be Arron Afflalo + a couple mediocre prospects + a minor amount of cap relief (compared to the ability to dump their worst contracts).

Not a good trade for them.

Hey, didn't say it was good.

Personally, I have no faith in Orlando getting any sort of good return on Dwight. They're going to make a complete and utter hash of things.

I think Toronto might give them some talent and assets for Gasol.

If Toronto had much talent and assets . . . Remember they dealt their 1st away in the Kyle Lowry deal.

Losing the few remaining assets of a young lottery team to acquire a 32 year old big making 19 million wouldn't seem prudent.

Acquring Gasol makes them the 9th best team in the conference? 10th? For a short period of time and expensive money?

Horrible trade from a Laker standpoint! (Good news for C's fans). And I think we could get Gasol after our roster is available for trade around January. And Gasol price should alot more reasonable.

I just don't get why they wouldn't just take Bynum straight up

I don't think Orlando would want to take Bynum and be stuck in the same situation, with a center who would be very likely to leave via free agency in a year.

My dream is that this deal falls through but all of this talk of trading Bynum makes him not want to sign an extension and he signs as a free agent next summer with a team that has cap space and the Lakers don't get anything for him, not even some crappy draft picks in a sign-and-trade.

This deal doesn't scare me at all. Kobe and Dwight isn't the 2nd coming of Kobe/Shaq. Howard isn't Shaquille O'Neal, and more importantly Kobe Bryant is no longer the same Kobe.

The fact they keep their pick if they make it to the Playoffs is a motivator to make a move for a guy like Gasol.

They have young talent they could move Gasol for in Bargs, Derozan, and Ross. They have a guy like Ed Davs and a nice expiring in Calderon.
