Pats vs Saints - First preseason game thread

Cant wait for this game tonight, football is finally back for Boston and we can forget about the redsox for a while.

What I'm watching for - The two first round picks.  Chandler Jones and Dont'a Hightower



Not only Did bill use his two first round picks this year, he actually traded up twice to get these guys.  He really wanted them and didn just wait to see what would fall his way.  So far all the reports out of camp have been promising on these two players.


Also, gotta watch out for the secondary.  It has been an obvious issue for the past couple of years and heres hoping that Ras I Dowling can stay healthy and make an impact.

Supposedly the saints offense was back at it torching the pats secondary earlier in the week so we'll see if the pats can handle them tonight when the first teams are out there.

This is true.  But I heard that the whole Pats team was terrible in the first scrimmage and much better in the second. 

Guess we'll see how things look tonight. 

I feel like things can't be worse than last year.  The front 7 should be improved and the return of Dowling should help the secondary.

The only two things that matter to me every preseason:

1) No major injuries

2) How do the new guys look?

Besides that, it's boring as heck except for maybe game #3 but at least it means football is back.

Also...  it's the Saints.  They'll torch any team in the league.

Kicking myself for not planning ahead and taking a personal day to check out camp this year.  Would have loved to have gone to the joint practice on Tuesday.

Well, Chandler Jones was an absolute beast last night.  Looks like he might really be something special.

In not so good news, Don's fears came true and it looks like Dane Fletcher is out for the season with a torn ACL

I did see the lone Patriots scoring drive in the 3rd Q with Shane Vareen running the ball effectively. I have a feeling that the real work goes on behind the scenes at practices.

Other than that, there wasn't much to the game I saw that impressed me either way.
