One of my favorite sports blogs has done an analysis of players in Europe and one of their determinations is:
The signing with the most potential for impact next year other than AK47 is Dionte Christmas for the Celtics. He was fabulous in Europe last year and has a chance to be a legit replacement for Ray Allen for the Celtics. I am very happy about this.
They project him as somewhat better than Nicolas Batum.
The post is authored by Arturo Galletti, who is a huge Celtics fan. He is a stathead who relies on the numbers, but he always seems to find that the numbers give reason to be optimistic about the Celtics.
TP to the OP.
Bumped this thread because I just saw the same wages of wins article on RealGM's Cs board http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=1202194 and remembered this thread from a while ago here.
I think that Christmas' versatility and D may get him some time.
With Bradley not being able to go full throttle until probably January, Christmas can be paired with Jet. Jet can play the 2 on offense and the one on D and Christmas can play the 1 on offense and the 2 on D.
Also, to be paired with Jet or Lee puts some serious 3ball people on the court at the same time.
Also, paired with Rondo, that's some pretty good potential D.
Maybe. But I highly doubt that Christmas gets anything substantial, even with Bradley out.
Rondo is still going to play 35 mpg. There's no reason that Lee can't play the 30 mpg he played last year.
That leaves 31 mpg of backup minutes at both backup guard spots, which is what Jason Terry played last year in Dallas.
Maybe there'll be a few minutes left over as Doc perhaps would like to keep Terry closer to 25 mpg. But with those extra 5 mpg or so, I wouldn't be surprised to see PP slide to the 2. It'd create more time for Green at the 3, which means less time playing him at the 4, which in turn means more time for the likes of Sullinger.
And I'd take that over giving Christmas minutes.
And that's not even taking into account the fact that Doc is far more likely to play Dooling in those 5 extra minutes than Christmas, if he really didn't want to play PP 5 mpg at the 2.
I certainly hope that Christimas pans out, but he has no place on the active roster when healthy, and he might not even have one with Bradley out.
