How would the Celtics do in Olympic Basketball?

I was watching the Lithuania vs USA game and wondered how our current Celtics team would fare in these Olympics. I don't know what that game was but we were getting killed by easy pick and rolls from Lithuania; I'm sure the Celtics would play a more cohesive defense. Thoughts?

Depends on health but our defense is EASILY better than team USA!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

  • Cool b/c i liked Rondo when he was behind Telfair
Well team usa does have incredible perimeter defense comparable to what rondo and bradley do

Some might disagree but I think Rondo is near perfectly built for the international game.  Much more play-making involved and his speed would be even more apparent.  I'm sure he would average 3-4 steals and be the best defensive guard by a ridiculous margin.  I also think he would be dominant over most if not all perimeter rebounders.

The jump shot is typically a bigger deal over there, but I can't imagine it being any worse the way NBA players have now adapted to him.  Even if it is, it's still overshadowed by how much more prominent his other skills become.

Oh yeah, and Pierce would be looking like Durant/Melo.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Care to explain how?  I would say equal, but even THAT's probably bias.

Even if you consider Durant a below average defender (which is beyond generous in my opinion), they're still starting 4 top 20 defenders, arguably 2 top 5.  If you sub in Harden or, if you want to get serious, Iguodala, they immediately surpass the Celtics without a sweat.

They will never play D with the same experience or cohesion that our guys have built together, but come on:

Arguably one of the quickest/longest backcourts ever assembled backed up by 3 absolutely giant guards, plus probably the 4 longest and most athletic forwards in the league including two of the top 3 wing defenders in the league, all in front of the biggest athletic anchor you can find (DPOY), plus the best rebounder in the game.  Heck, I can't even leave out Anthony Davis because even their 12th man makes every big on our team not named KG look like Bargnani.

I don't care how good they are, they don't play it (not together for sure)... we actually play defense, they just try to shoot teams to death, it works out when they are hot but they were getting beaten on defense like it was a bunch of rookies defending! It's like if you have all the greatest scores in the world (they do have a great majority of them lol) but they don't score... how does that make you better because you "can" do it?

Olympics sorta like fake basketball. Street ball, run and gun .  Maybe the medal rounds it willget serious.

A well coached POP or Doc team of most NBA average teams would be medal category.

SPurs, Celtics, Bulls, Lakers , OKC and probally heat as well would be easily Gold contenders.

BTW, does Parker or Ginobilli have dual citizenship between the US and their respective home nations? If so, then they can play.
