I was watching the Lithuania vs USA game and wondered how our current Celtics team would fare in these Olympics. I don't know what that game was but we were getting killed by easy pick and rolls from Lithuania; I'm sure the Celtics would play a more cohesive defense. Thoughts?
Depends on health but our defense is EASILY better than team USA!
Care to explain how? I would say equal, but even THAT's probably bias.
Even if you consider Durant a below average defender (which is beyond generous in my opinion), they're still starting 4 top 20 defenders, arguably 2 top 5. If you sub in Harden or, if you want to get serious, Iguodala, they immediately surpass the Celtics without a sweat.
They will never play D with the same experience or cohesion that our guys have built together, but come on:
Arguably one of the quickest/longest backcourts ever assembled backed up by 3 absolutely giant guards, plus probably the 4 longest and most athletic forwards in the league including two of the top 3 wing defenders in the league, all in front of the biggest athletic anchor you can find (DPOY), plus the best rebounder in the game. Heck, I can't even leave out Anthony Davis because even their 12th man makes every big on our team not named KG look like Bargnani.
