Yea, I agree with sal****er here.

When I first read the title of this thread, I assumed he was actually being given the traffic warrant on the spot. I didn't think that the police saw him walking down the street and did a check up on him for an outstanding one. So, was he just minding his own business when the cops approached him? Did the cops really recognize it was Matt Barnes and go "hey wait, didn't he have an outstanding traffic warrant"? Does this happen often to other people in California?

He was walking on a beach and they ran a check on him to find that he owed $25k?  I don't know much about California, but can you do that?  Or is there something else missing from the story?

From what I have heard of California, they love to run checks on people to get money. 

But, I do get the impression there is more to this story.  I find it very hard to believe that they didn't have some reason to talk to him.
