You got Wilcox who is actually is a PF and Jason Collins who is a certified bench warmer playing at the centre.

KG will play the 5 vs teams that play sf's C like miami at times did with Lebron or vs 76rs who have no true centre either, but against teams like the Magic (Howard) and even teams like GS with Bogut, no way you can let KG try to battle them all game.

I wonder what danny's/doc's plan on this issue. Is there faith that Sullinger and Melo can somehow magically do more than their share playing the c??

realistically these two rookies might be able to help out at certain situations of the game (needing rebounding, blocking shots, taking fouls) but no way they would be able to hold a guy like Howard down or let him even be avg. Can't see either Wilcox or Collins be able to do the same.

The truth is, Howard can score 40 and grab 20 rebounds, but with a hurting magic team otherwise, we should still prob win by 20.

But again what happens say if you face a team like the lakers that now has Howard? Even a team like the pacers who have a good young team and Hibbert now the x factor?

Maybe by trade deadline the only solution will be to trade for a decent centre. I wouldn't be one bit surprised if sullinger is part of the asset leaving. Danny is becoming famous for drafting and shipping these days.

opinions? strategy?

You know who played Howard tough.  Glenn Davis.  To play the bigger guys you just have to be strong and have a low center of gravity, not necessarily be taller.

all the eastern contenders have a PF playing center now. chicago (noah), miami (bosh or their no name centers), indiana (hes not a bruising center), etc. list goes on and on(orlando is not a contender)

thats all that matters, that we can beat the contenders.

Although it would be nice to find a good rotation center, we don't need one as currently constructed. I'd say though that we need more size as safety nets in case of injuries, or for situationals. Other than that, 1-5 we got a lot of talent that can step up at any given time.

Was just thinking the same as I went through the lineups. Is great to have Wilcox to run with Rondo and Collins can hold his own in the post; but as it stands KG and/or Sulinger will need to be playing big minutes at Center. Not ideal; but is one way for Sulinger to earn his minutes - he has great hands around the basket.

You know who else played Howard tough?

 Kevin Garnett.

KG's our center.  I can live with that.

I like Sullinger at C. He is 6'9, but knows what hes doing down low. I'd rather have someone like him down there than a 7 footer with absolutely no skills. Besides, Doc will use him in good matchups, almost like KG/Sully are playing both PF and C at the same time, depending on the night.

I'd think a lot of other teams would be pretty satisfied with Kevin Garnett and me for centers.

From what I recall, Wilcox also did a good job on Howard last year.

I agree it's our weakest position, in that we mostly have power forwards playing center.  Still, I have two observations:

1) There are 15-20 decent or better centers in the league, so about half the teams are in the same boat as us (including Miami.)

2) Our other positions are very good and very deep, so it may be the weakest, but it isn't really weak.

Us and 90% of the league.
yeah there arent many centers out there and if you want a solid legit one you have to throw max contract money at one

KG, Wilcox, Collins, Melo is pretty good depth at C. Every team in the league is undersized pretty much. Our small centers are better than your small centers.
