Face it, Courtney Lee < Ray Allen

I think you're upset that the majority of celtics fan no longer care about ray and glad hes gone now that we have lee and terry. Ray is a one trick pony, terry and lee aren't. Ray can hit 3's that's it. So can alot of guys in the NBA. The celtics will live.

Don't understand the argument of this thread. Courtney will probably never be the player Ray Allen was.  But Ray allen hasn't played like an allstar or HOF in years.  This past year he couldn't get his shot off and was injured for a lot if the year.

Now projecting another year forward I think its stupid to say face it Ray is better.

I quess I don't agree he is a one trick pony. Yes he has trouble creating his own offense; but if Danny could have kept him he would have. I personally am glad to see a youth movement taking hold; but I think that Lee is not the cure all some people suggest.

Overall I think the C's a much stronger this year than last no question so I am not pessimistic in the least.

Lee has done nothing to suggest that he is a Hall of Fame caliber player let alone an All-Star caliber player. He is a solid NBA player. Ray Allen has averaged 20ppg over 15+ seasons in the NBA and has a career 45% fg avg. and 40% 3p avg.
Courtney Lee's percentages are promising; but he is not a volume scorer (career avg. 10 ppg).

I hope he has alot more to show us and may be a better fit in the long run; but we lost one of the greatest players in the history of the NBA. Danny has done a great job replacing him with JET and Lee. Just hoping we can figure out how to use the flexibility that we have with this lineup.

I think you need to face it, Ray Allen is 37 and breaking down physically. He is not an all-star player anymore, he's a role player. Lee is younger, faster, much better defender, and will run the floor better with Rondo. Not to mention we won't have to run out the shot clock waiting for him to get open like we did for Ray.

So... the OP is suggesting that Ray Allen, arguably the best pure shooter of all time who was one of the key cogs of the 2008 championship who is undoubtedly a first ballot hall of famer, is better than Courtney Lee, a guy who has played a bench role all his life, who's only averaged 11 points a game once. Whatever gave the OP that idea?

We all know Ray had a better career than Courtney Lee will ever have. It's just at this point in 2012, Courtney Lee brings more to this team than Ray would had he returned. Ray is 37, on the downside of his career, and is coming off of ankle surgery for the second time since 2007. Ray's athleticism isn't what it once was, and though he is a lethal sharpshooter, he is only a lethal sharpshooter. That's really all he brings to the table at this point. It's still a question as to whether or not Ray can adjust to a bench role in Miami. He wasn't all that spectacular when he came off the bench for us. Courtney Lee, however, has thrived playing off the bench (where he's going to be when Avery returns to health) for good teams, may not be as much of a pure shooter as Ray but has a reliable 3-ball, brings athleticism and youth, and best of all, he brings amazing perimeter defense.

I'm taking youth, athleticism, and defense over a sharpshooting injury risk at this point.

I think the only time we will miss Ray Allen is needing a 3 late in the game to hang in or sink the dagger.  PP and Terry may be that guy now, but Ray is as good as they come with the clutch 3 point bucket.  He has a veteran savvy that will be helpful in the playoffs.  

So if we assume JET takes Allen's role in the last 6 minutes of close games, let's hope he's still got the magic he's shown as recently as their 2011 title run.  If so, we won't miss Ray at all.

  People need to let go of who Ray Allen was a couple of years ago and come to grips with who he is now.  Now he is a very good spot up jump shooter who cannot create his own shot, at times struggles to clear enough space to get his shot off, has a below average handle and is a below average defender.

  Oh ya....and HE TURNED HIS BACK ON THE CELTIC'S.
