According to Greg Anthony in the pre-game show to summer league game last night, he said that Doc Rivers told him that sullinger might start at Center for the c's next year.

considering how sullinger is such a better rebounder than bass and likes to bang in the post(and KG doesnt) It wouldnt be a bad move

so to start the season(with bradley out) our rotation could be

Rondo/Terry
Lee/Terry
Pierce/Green
KG/bass/green
Sullinger/KG/wilcox

I'd be very surprised if Sullinger is starting over Bass to start the season.

center? Bad idea if we start Sully it needs to be pf and KG at center. Still very interesting, Sully is the better rebounder. Starting for a Celtics team as a rookie though? Good job haha

Same here.  Sully can earn the spot, but I'd be surprised if he begins the season in the starting lineup.

As for center, I think KG needs to defend opposing centers.

Ya I'd be very surprised to see him start..wouldn't be very fair to bass either and you think KG would want to start next to a rookie? Even if it means moving back to his preferred position I still don't see it.

I think it will depend on who fits better with Rondo. And Bass will start with an edge here.

I don't like Bass starting, so as far as that's concerned, I have no problem. I'd give Wilcox a shot though, and I'd start Green over Bass too. Of potential rotation bigs, Bass is the last I want starting.

I fully expect Bass to be starting opening night, but I do think its interesting that Doc would think about Starting sullinger instead.

either way, there should be minutes for sullinger this year and hopefully he takes advantage of them

When Sully was first drafted, I liked this idea a lot and got behind him as a starting PF over Brandon Bass ... however, as I have had more time to think about it, I believe I was being overly-optimistic about Sullinger's ability to outplay Bass at the starting PF position.

Given his defensive limitations and in his rookie year where he is still learning the NBA game from a defensive standpoint, I think Sullinger will be too large of a negative defensively to out play Bass despite his superior offense + rebounding.

Better to keep Bass as the starter and use Sully as the primary backup PF where Sully can enjoy easier matchups against lesser quality PFs. I think that rotation gives Boston a more productive PF rotation.

I heard this on the pre-game show too. Greg said he laughed and asked Doc if that was TV talk or real talk and Greg was surprised when Doc said that he was 100% serious. He said Doc explained that by starting Sully he can better control the type of matchups he gets into. Doc also told Greg that he sees Sully as having very special passing that fits perfectly with the Cs style of play. Not that he will eventually get there, but that he is already a special passer today.

Pretty much how I feel.  I simply don't think bass is a starter on a good team and that he is better suited as an energy guy off the bench.  I hadnt considered starting sullinger but it might not be a bad idea.  Sully isn't your typical rookie.  He already knows how to play the game.

Wow, if Doc starts a drafted-at-21 rookie, we might have to make sure that he wasn't kidnapped by aliens and replaced with an impostor.

what do you mean fair to bass? we're trying to win a chip as a team, not be fair to each player. if we need bass coming off the bench, then we need him coming off the bench.

danny said the rookie will be on a speed course and he might play 5. this is not a surprise if he starts. Sulliger is a lottery talent in a loaded draft, so he's not the typical rookie we are used to. he is ready to contribute and the only ones skeptical are the ones who dont realize how much of a steal sully was in the draft.
