Christmas looks like a summer league gunner to me.  No hurry on that.

I like our starting 10:  Rondo/Terry; Lee/Bradley; Pierce/Green; Bass/Sullinger; KG/Wilcox.  That's who's going to play, with some Collins thrown in.

I think Joseph is in.  2 left, with BAE.

First of Dooling, Daniels, or Pietrus to take the minimum is on the team.

I might save the BAE for now and give the 15th spot to Smith on a non-guaranteed deal unless a nice big is available now for it.
idk bout dat at da bolded, not only has Christmas scored consistently (I think in double figures every summer league game) he's rebounded well nd led our team in assist in multiple games. dont always throw away summer league performances cuz some of those hungry players can turn into rotation players out of nowhere word to Gary Neal

Our current roster:

Rondo/Terry
Lee/Bradley
Pierce/Green
Bass/Wilcox/Sullinger
KG/Collins/Melo

I think Dooling might be a late signing if nothing else pans out. First, I think we give non-guaranteed contracts to Joesph and Christmas after the summer league is over. I think Johnson was gone because we drafted Sullinger and Wilcox, Bass, and Green re-signed. Moore didn't have much of a chance to play since we signed Terry and Lee is a SG and Bradley should be back Dec/Jan. Joesph is 23 and Christmas is 25, they both would play in the D-League with Melo unless there is a injury. The last roster spot should be given to Dooling because he brings a lot of energy. He knows his role and can play PG/SG like Terry/Bradley. Pietrus and Daniels are too injury prone and we are better off with Christmas and Joseph who can play some D-League. Still we could just leave the last roster spot open for a player that is amnestied later.

What our roster will look like:

Rondo/Terry/Dooling?
Lee/Bradley/Christmas
Pierce/Green/Joseph
Bass/Wilcox/Sullinger
KG/Collins/Melo

I think a guard rotation of Rondo, Bradley, Terry and Lee is something Doc will love. Rondo/Bradley to start, Rondo/Terry, Bradley/Lee, and Rondo/Lee. So many possibilities to play with, that's not a bad thing at all. Now we have a forward rotation of Pierce, Bass, Green, Wilcox, and maybe Sullinger in blow outs. You can play Pierce/Bass, Pierce/Green, Green/Wilcox, and Green/Bass. KG and Collins as center with maybe a late signing at the trade deadline? I feel like we have a very deep roster as it stands and Danny did a great job!

3 spots open. Hmm? Try to sign 1 of each and that's another center, power-forward and point guard.

Not sure why there is so much love with Pietrus. He was awful in the playoffs.

Me, I'd put in Bird, Mchale and Parish to make the 15 spots.

Kidding aside, i'd like joseph, christmas, and dooling (for locker room leadership purposes)
Peavey Bass Player - relearning to play after 10 years sucks;

He was hurt last year you know. He's somebody you can throw at a Carmelo or LeBron and not have to help off of too much. I really hope we add him great for the locker room and leaves it all out there.

1. Try to sign Pietrus for the 1.6M of his non-bird raise. If he gets more anywhere else, cheer for him because he's a great guy.

2. Sign Dooling for the best contract you can.

3. Save the BAE for the waiver wire. If you can't sign the veterans, give the summer kids a non-guaranteed contract, just to keep roster flexibility. If you did sign the veterans, go to step 4.

4. Try to sign Christmas/Smith for the Rock Lobsters. If they get a better contract for another team/overseas, great for them. They're not experienced enough, Celtics are in win-now mode and they won't sniff minutes in the playoffs.

5. After training camp, preseason and some practices with the veterans, send Joseph and Melo down to Maine. Get a good bigman coach to teach Melo.

Stay healthy (aka manage the minutes wisely), and by march Danny could find another good piece off the waiver wire who can be had for the BAE. We could get to playoffs with 12 solid players who can contribute Spurs' style.

Go Celtics!!

His defense was definitely not awful-- and he was injured (concussion, knee) to boot.

Not sure we could risk a spot on Pietrus with his knee issues. If Christmas does not pan out can bring him in later.

Signed players: 13

Rondo,Terry,Bradley,Lee,Doodler,Pierce,Green
Garnett,Wilcox,Sullinger,Melo,Bass,Collins

Partially guaranteed:

Christmas

Nonguaranteed signings, camp invites:

Joseph,Smith

Dooling apparently took the vet min, I thought he would get his 20% raise, hopefully Pietrus does the same, I would then take either Joseph or Christmas IF no bigmen available. Both can be waived later to make room for biannual signing.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Joseph is a lock to make the team.
Add him on your lists.
I'd take Pietrus and Xmas and one more big.
Cut xmas if a big comes out on waivers.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.
