Hes not coming to Boston. Atlanta had him on the block last year and the Celtics declined and so did every other team in the NBA.I wonder if its because hes not worth the money he is paid and is not a contract teams are willing to take on with the new CBA. People seem to overrate him due to his flashy play. Wow look at that dunk! he blocked that shot into the 6th row! His decision making in games is bad and his jump shot is terrible. Comparing him to Amare Stoudemire is preposterous as well.

As much as I hate the fakers, they gave up as good value as you can give for Howard, without having Howards' clone... it's not their fault the Mage took in other teams' scraps...

If we even get Smith, I don't think it happens until after this season preferring to do a sign n trade for a lower overall salary if he would do that as opposed to trading all the pieces necessary to fit his 13M salary under the apron this year.

His original deal was 5yrs58M. If they did a 3yr deal for like 34M with an option 4th they could start that first year at around 10M maybe and then move Bass with a couple of picks maybe to get him which I think Ferry would jump on rather than lose him for nothing if he decides not to resign him anyway.

By bringing KG back, we've pretty much gone all-in.  If you're gonna go all in, you can't hold back.  Otherwise it's not all-in.

We need to load up for this season.  KG and Pierce might have 2 and 3 years, respectively, on their deals, but they may not have that much time left.  We should make a move this year if possible.

The best free agents next year are Howard, CP3, Bynum, Smith, Jefferson, and Kaman.

Milsap is better than Jefferson or Kaman.

Pretty good rebounder (not great), runs well, shoots terribly (considering how confident he is in taking them), and is a very good individual defender. He's a fringe all-star making a lot of money.

Maybe Green won't become a better player than Smith, but he should be a more complimentary player to this team. For the price Green is costing us and the salary I'm sure Smith will be looking for, I don't see the point. Add in losing other assets (Bass/picks/whatever), I don't get even discussing it.

He would be a great player if he played smarter.  I'm pessimistic that he will ever get the focus necessary to be the kind of player you want to build a team around, but he has shown flashes of that ability before regressing.

Well Smith is a massive upgrade from Bass and a gigantic upgrade from any player we would draft at the position we'd likely be drafting from. It's absolutely worth discussing bringing more talent in. I just don't see us moving the assets this season to get him during the season and still stay under the apron. Or maybe I just don't want to. I like the idea of keeping both Lee AND AB and I feel we'd need to move at least 1 if not both to match salary and I feel that would be too much to move for a guy I'm not certain Danny will want to keep next year if Howard doesn't come to ATL.

Bradley doesn't make that much money.  I get the feeling that the Celtics would have to move two out of Bass, Green, Lee, and Terry to make the salaries work in a deal for Smith.

Josh Smith is listed as making $13.2m this season.  I would be disinclined to trade for him unless I felt comfortable giving him a new, maximum-length contract with a raise.  I don't feel comfortable doing that.
