I don't think we can take care of Miami if we do not fix our rebounding problem. Right now its just KG/Bass/Wilcox. We're gonna need at least one more big that can bang with Bosh/Lewis.

I love our signings from the 1-3 position, but our bench for the 4-5 position is still kinda thin. Right now a combo of Rondo/Bradley/Lee/Terry > Chalmers/Wade/Ray (God I hate saying this)/Mike Miller?

Pierce/Jeff Green < James/Battier (but not too far behind)

If we can sign a center that's relatively young or lower 30s, I feel good about our chances

Were we outrebounded by Miami bad? Miami is a sucky rebounding team. We needed to upgrade talent more than rebounding at least in that matchup.

Also in general our rebounding wasn't that bad.in the playoffs once the games actually started to mattwr

In the 3 games with Bosh we were outrebounded by 25.

In the 4 games without Bosh it was about even.

Are you insane?  I mean that in the nicest possible way.  I mean seriously Pierce and Green at this point are light years behind James and Battier.  James is the best player on the planet and is by a wide margin on everyone else.  Pierce isn't even in the discussion for the best 20 players on the planet anymore.  Battier is just as good if not better than Green and that was before Green missed an entire season with a heart defect.

Really?  You think (Bosh/Lewis+whoever else)>(KG/Bass/Wilcox)?

I'd say it's at least a wash, if not slightly in our favor.  If the C's are healthy, I'd say we match up quite well with Miami.

Really, LeBron is the one huge advantage they have.  He posseses the ability to, alone, skew the whole equation.

I posted this in another thread late last night, so it probably got lost.  Here's how Id see the 4th qtr matchups:

KG/Bosh
Green/James
Pierce/Battier
(Bradley/Lee/Terry)/Allen
Rondo/Wade

That looks to be about as even as two teams could possibly match up.

Bang with Lewis? That dude is one of the softest rebounding PF I can think of.

I think we finally have enough quality depth to withstand the usual grind of a long season. We should win the Atlantic, but the Knicks and Nets will both be top 5-6 in the East. Atlanta will drop, as will Orlando and Chicago.

Still need to see how the rosters shape up by training camp.

  • Cool b/c i liked Rondo when he was behind Telfair
I don't think that Bradley should be thrown onto Allen. Although he is a terrific defender, he is best suited for on ball defense, which would be best utilized on Wade
Odds that i can dunk?

Bradley also fights through off the ball screens about as hard as anyone in the league.

Yep,  I think we probably are the 2nd best team in the East - if only because you've got to give the Champs the benefit of the doubt.  Having said that, I think we are deeper than people realize and wouldn't surprise me if we end up 1st seeded when it's all said and done.

you are completely correct, i am just saying that his on ball defense would be better utilized on wade, because if everyone fights through screens, like you said, then throw someone else on him...maybe lee? they are almost the same size and weight and im sure he could keep up. Then again, Allen won't even be running through screens in miami, just being on the court with lbj and wade will get him open looks

ps. sorry if i get this quoting feature wrong, it's my first day..lol

lebron> pierce at this point

But, are you serious in saying Battier is just as good/better than green? posters on this site are being too delusional in bashing the guy

Battier is a one-dimensional player at this point...3 and D. he averaged 4.8PPG during the regular season for Miam and 7 in the playoffs.

Green playing what most here would say as "bad" averaged 9.8PPG for the C's...battier has never averaged 15+ppg in a season(he came close his rookie year, thats it). something Green did in OKC

The Celtics could be the second seed in the East, or worse, given that we need to rest PP and KG and that Avery will probably start his season in December.

But we have the best TEAM in the East, and that's what counts more. We also have some of the best players to go along with that, and if we can rest PP and KG, we have the star power (Rondo/JET/Captain/KG) and the right role players (Bradley/Lee/Green/Bass/Wilcox) to win it all. Some of our role players could grow into stars, but that would be a bonus.

Doc will have to manage the minutes of our veterans, bring the new guys into the system, and give Sully and Melo some space to grow and contribute. If 50% of these things go well, we've a great chance to beat the cHeat and go back to the Finals.
