With the new addition of Lee, what does everyone think about Kris Joseph's prospects of making the team?  As has been mentioned on here before, the dude can play.

Nothing flashy, but for a rookie he shows great poise and solid fundamentals (especially on D).  He rebounds well, finds open guys, has a nice spot up midrange jumper and gets into passing lanes.  In what appears to be a logjam at the wing position, I hope Joseph isn't the odd man out!

I think he stands an excellent chance of making the roster as our 3rd SF. Lee is very much a guard, he's not very good at dealing with big wings.

  • Ashy To Classy, baby.
Is it bad that I still want Dionte Christmas on the team, even after the Lee signing? I assured myself I wouldn't. Joseph and Christmas are both similar, but I see a little more in Xmas' game.

My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

Joseph's chances of making team went up IMO.

KG / Melo
Bass / Wilcox / Sully
Pierce / Green
Lee / AB
Rondo / Terry

Don't think I missed anyone. I'd guess both Dooling and Joseph have a better chance of making team today than three days ago. If Pietrus comes back for the early bird, then it gets harder for those guys, but right now Joseph fills a roster spot cheapily in a slot that is not likely to see floor time.

Danny builds the team  via scouting young talent that was overlooked /or gambles (sully) , improving their stock , then trading them for FA's that can compete .

Joseph is one of these guys ( way more than the Perdue 's) , that I think will go up in value fairly quick , like Brooks .

He could be part of a deal in another 1-2 years that could land us another Superstar to replace Pierce or bring in a big.

Danny's big trade for Lee , dumping all the excess , proves to the current group (other than Rondo , PP, KG) you've got to produce or else.

After a year of practice with the Celtics , like AB , Joseph should impress... he has all the skills and NBA body .

He is good or better than Christmas now...  it took Christmas several years to get to the point he is at to really play NBA ball.

I have mixed feelings on him...  He looks decent enough to give a flyer on, but he'll have to keep working hard.  His future could be a Ryan Gomes type of player or someone in the NBDL within a year or two.

I think he has a good shot at being the 3rd string 3.  But if that's the case, I'd prefer not to go with Christmas as our 3rd string 2.  I'd prefer a vet like Marquis Daniels who, in the event Pierce or Green misses some time, could slide to the 3 with ease if Joseph isn't ready to step in yet.

This year? Or his career?

This year.  Though let's be honest, he is a late second round pick who has had a few good summer league games. That might also be his upside.

Of course I hope he has more, but it's way too early to tell yet.  There have been plenty of players who have had brilliant summer leagues and never amounted to anything in the NBA.

He will make the team.

It looks like he will eventually be able to carve out a end of bench role playing spot with an decent outside shot and smart team defense.

Anything beyond that will end up being a bonus.

He has great size and the requisite athleticism for his position.  He's unflappable and has all around basketball skill. To me it doesn't matter where he was drafted.

K-Jo looks like an NBA player.  The Cs have three roster spots still open.  I'd be shocked if he doesn't make this team.  I could even see him successfully playing a few minutes at the back of the rotation if one wing got hurt.

I like what I've seen too.

However, let's temper all of this with the fact that while Joseph has resembled Pierce during some summer league games (as others have said), we've also seen the following comparisons over the years before based on the summer league:

Kedrick Brown = Michael Jordan
Gerald Green = Tracy McGrady
Brandon Hunter = Charles Barkley
Jermoe Moiso = Kevin Garnett
Marcus Banks = Gary Payton

If anyone else has any other gems, feel free to tack them on below.
