This might be a good move by Danny.
If the Celtics sign Blatche to a one year vet minimum deal, with a Team option to renew with a 2nd year salary increase; its a no risk deal.

Blatche effectively ends his NBA career if he screws up in Boston.
The incentives outweigh the muppet's penchant for looking up Miss Piggy's skirt and for trying to eat Kermit. Even Blatche must be able to know that his career is at a crossroads.

Remember, Blatche isn't Bad News Barnes.

Even with all his baggage I doubt Andray would sign for the 'Vet Minimum'.  This summer teams are throwing around incredible money to pick up marginal players.  Kris Humphries $24 milllion for 2 years.  Landry Fields $20 million for 3 years. Jeremy Lin $25 million.  Blatche for 1 million?  I doubt it.

All the people rebuking Blatche are probably the same people that belabored JJJ would develop into some star. Absolutely ridiculous. You can't teach talent. Also, to the people saying his ego won't allow for a vet's minimum signing, you do realize that whatever he signs as an UFA will be on top of his remaining 23 million contract right? He's getting a hefty pay regardless, so he'll definitely accept the vet's min or BAE.

Blatche cleared amnesty waivers, not regular waivers, right?  That means a team didn't need to pick up his whole contract, just bid a 3 year deal (If I understand correctly).  So this means that no team with cap space wanted him for 3 years.

He will get picked up, probably for the minimum.  I read that NYKs are showing interest or there is speculation at least.  I think him on a team with Stodemire and Anthony, in NYC is probably about the worst possible situation.

If he has any sense (and he may not) he should see that Boston is a great place to remake his career on a 1-year deal.  Do well and stay out of trouble and he will make some decent $$$ the following year.

Umm.. not really. I just have a problem with his attitude that's all. Ever since he got injured pretty badly, he's just never worked his way back into shape. Washington even made him team captain to motivate him, but that didn't work. KG absolutely HATES players with a low work ethic, so I think Blatche is a no go.

Yes, he cleared amnesty waivers, making him an unrestricted free agent. And I agree, the Knicks are going to become Washington 2.0 with J.R. Smith, Carmelo, and other clowns ready to create another fantasy world for Blatche. That bleacherreport article doesn't mention that the Knicks are interested in him, and it's not really credible given that it's written by fans like you and I. I really hope Blatche can rationally see that Boston is the place for him to clean up his career.

I like Blatche. My argument is his upside far outweighs that of any of the other bigs available. He has never played with good veterans to show him the way or an already in place locker room. Maybe the Celtics would be a perfect place for him to resurrect his career.

Agreed and just to add that the Celtics offense stresses spacing for creators like Rondo, Pierce, and KG in the post. In order to create spacing we'll need shooters. Blatche fits in with us there's no question about that. His basketball IQ is decent enough for him to pick up our defensive rotations. In Doc's world, a useful big is someone who can spread the floor and rotate well on defense. Blatche certainly has the DNA, but does he have the work ethic?

If Blatche is ever going to do a [dang] thing in the NBA besides cash a check, he needs to pick the place where he can most assuredly resurrect his career. That would be the usual suspects - Miami, Lakers, Celtics - and maybe OKC, which could use ANY front court scoring.

Dallas is also an option.  They have no problem signing low cost talented cast offs, like YI and Sean Williams.

We're talking about a 25 year old 6'11" 260lbs talented BIG that we can get for pennies on the dollar. This guy is 1 year removed from putting up 17pts 8 reb a game in the NBA. He's shown he can ball at this level, and is not a project. Attitude wise - his head is on the same swivel as Sean Williams and we took a shot with him. If it doesnt work out, Danny will get rid of him as he's shown in the past. Dray can contribute right away, and spread the floor with a decent shot. 100% worth any risk involved and is a no brainer (pun intended), even at the BAE in my opinion.
