Utah trades Chris Andersen

Houston trades JJ Redick

Confirmed.  And with that, a 5th rounder is traded straight up for an 11th rounder.

You beat me to it. My joke offer involved the 12.1.

Who proposed eliminating the TOTF concept altogether?

Kind of a sham. Houston would've been better off just keeping Redick on the roster, sending him home. But the guy's not Andray Baltche.

Yeah, I see JJ as a valuable player.  He plays solid defense, he's a great shooter, etc.  He's definitely worth much more than an injured backup center who may not play in the league this year.

redick, in my opinion is no better than a 7th player on a team. If someone drafted him in the 5th, they made a mistake. Andersen is a top notch backup center. Probably 10th round material.

So in that sense, its a lot closer than you make it. Draft positioning is a very bad way to look at things. I made a ridiculous mistake taking Valanciunas where I did. Would you think you were getting a bargain if I traded Val to you straight up for Dunleavey because Val was a fifth rounder and Dunleavey a ninth?

How is Chris Andersen team of the future more then Reddick? Anderson has been playing for a decade.

A TOTF can't have one older player?

See my comments above.  Redick is a 28 year old starting SG who is an elite shooter, a good scorer, and a solid defender.  He's a below-average starter, but he's solid.

Andersen is a 34 year old, 15 minute per game, 40 game per year player at this point, if he even finds a landing spot.

If you think the trade made you better, I'm not going to argue, but the value isn't even close to being the same.  In this csae, a six round disparity between the talent seems about right.

Sure but isn't Reddick at 28 a good person for that role?

And now, the top thread on CB is 'birdman available for get minimum, do we want him?'

Sweet. Sweet, sweet irony.

Ha.  Now, if it was "J.J. Redick or Chris Andersen available at vet minimum; pick one" I'd be impressed.

We will have to agree to disagree, especially about Redick. He's an okay backup and a bad starter.

And for the Birdman minimum jokes...yeah he's making $4.8 million plus the  vet minimum on top of that this year. And he was in Karl's doghouse for some reason for a good portion of last year which accounted for a lot of DNP-CDs.

He also is recovered from his injury much like Varejao is, who also has played limited games the last two seasons.
Thing is Andersen is my backup, not my starter like Varejao is on his team.

Nonsense.  Varejao has a wrist injury.  Andersen has knee, back, and hamstring injuries that have bothered him over multiple seasons.  I've probably got some PMs from the Pick 2 draft between co-GMs stating how highly you value Varejao, so let's not get into the gamesmanship.

Redick is a significantly more valuable player than Andersen.  I'm surprised that you'd argue otherwise.

If I'm wrong about my man, I have plenty to back up my two back up positions.

If you are wrong, well.....

I value Andersen. He's a helluva backup center and he's as healthy as Varejao and likely to be putting up the same numbers next year as Brendan Haywood.

And if you want, search my CB comments on Redick. I have never thought highly of him. Ever.

And last I checked it was against the rules of Celticsblog to disclose the contents of private messages.
