If Ray stays we probably dont get Lee.

We are now younger and better.

Love it.

TP! Courtney Lee at this point is better overall for this team than Ray! Great defensively, can hit the three, and can run the floor with Rondo. He's not Avery but he will be one of the best back-ups in the league.

Really gave up hope on this one. Can't believe it! We're so deep now, it's crazy... I don't remember ever feeling safe we had enough guys to withstand Father Time! Thanks, Jebus!!

  • GOT IT!!!
I have to agree. JetLee > Ray

Ray is cold in the clutch but he has slipped a lot whether he wants to admit it or not.

I won't go as far as saying it's a blessing, but I agree with Bradley, Terry and now Lee, he may not be missed as much as we once thought. I wanted him back in green more for sentimental reasons and his knack for the dagger, but I know he had some weaknesses.

I am no longer worried about our team without him, but I still worry about the Heat with him. He is a much better shooter than Miller, Jones, Battier, and Chalmers.

Danny is putting together one heck of an off-season that will undoubtedly go under the radar. Add a big (Stiemsma, Darko, Anderson, Blatche, etc.) and maybe Pietrus for depth on the wing, and I don't see who can beat us.

the deal may yet fall apart, but imho there is only one thing Ray does better than Lee and that is shoot clutch threes at the end of games. Lee will never even get that opportunity and that is a big deal for us to not have that additional guy on the floor at the end that everyone worries about not to mention what was secure free throw shooting until the last month of his Celtic existence before he extinguished himself in fire.

There is not one other thing Lee isn't better at than Ray. And really its not even close with everything else.

We will need Terry to be the guy at the end along with Rondo needing to develop into a greater threat with his jumper and drawing fouls

DA has put put $6mil he was offered Judas to good use. Sweeten Jeff Green's deal, and added Courtney Lee to the roster. Most importantly Celtics keep getting younger. Yes, it was a blessing in disguise.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Ray Allen is still better than Courtney Lee. So let's stop the Courtney is better nonsense. I do however agree that Ray leaving will end up a blessing in disguise. Doc will have one less guy to force feeds shots and Rondo one less former allstar to keep happy. I expect better ball movement and smarter rotations. No more "he's 1-10, but those are his shots" nights or "Pietrus is playing better, but he's RAY ALLEN" at the end of games.

the celtics got much younger and more athletic.

the only 30+ guys we have on the team right now are Paul pierce, kG and Jason Terry

Ray gives you a lot of motion on offense, deadly three point shooting, clutch shooting, a little better offensive creativity, and automatic free throws.

Lee gives you top notch defense, ability to run with Rondo, good 3 point shooting and good overall shooting percentage.

Overall I would say Ray is better, but Lee is very close, is younger, and is less of a risk injury wise.

Regardless, it is a fantastic pick up and it made my week (Celtic wise).
