Seriously we have to get out the EAST before the lakers even become a problem and theres no guarantee the lakers even make the finals! Last time i checked the team we should be worried about is miami NOT the lakers. Who cares if howard goes to LA! I personally prefer that over him going to the nets. If i didn't know any better id say the celtics were a clear cut favorite to the finals and so were the lakers. Take a chill pill people.

Beyond being in direct on the court competition with the Lakers I don't want them to match or pass the C's for overall titles.

Howard as a Lakers gives them a very good chance to do just that.

Match, maybe... if everything goes right for them (get DH12, no injuries, mesh well), and even then, the Thunder & Miami are still in the way.

Pass... I don't see it.  Given age, I don't see them becoming a dynasty.

Doesn't need to be a dynasty to pass the Celtics.  I wouldn't call 2 a dynasty.  Were the mid-90s Rockets a dynasty?

I never want to see the Lakers improve.

I rather the heat win the next three then see the Lakers win a single title.

AHhhhh so that's what this is about. Lakers not tying the celtics in banners. Sorry, im more worried about our team finding a way to beat the team that has knocked us out of the playoffs the last 2 years. How about worrying about the lakers once they at least reach the finals? A little too early to start worrying about that now. We know we have to go through miami for us to even get a shot at banner 18 tho. Last time i checked OKC is still the team to beat in the west and last time i checked the celtics are in the east. Lets stay focused on the real enemy here and that's miami right now.

It is never to early to wish bad things for the Lakers.

I am still hoping Howard ends up in Houston.

Does Kobe still have enough for two more? I don't think Howard can do it without Kobe playing great. Nash is due for a breakdown at some point, he's 103 and age will catch up to him.

Is everyone forgetting who coaches this team?
Back to wanting Joe fired.

TP for using "couldn't care less" correctly.

I'm not worried about the Lakers beating the Celtics because we'll be in a good situation if we make the Finals against them.  I don't like seeing them improve, though, especially with Bynum likely to leave town and Howard still a young superstar.  But Mike Brown and Antawn Jamison aren't exactly known for playoff success.

I don't know.  If 3 is definitely a dynasty, 2 isn't far off.  Semantics.  My point was that I don't seeing that team (as presently constituted + DH12) winning in 2014 due to the aging of 2 of their most important pieces.

I want to see that team circle the drain while they give Bynum and oversized deal to watch him implode on the team.

Add Howard, and Lakers suddenly have their next centerpiece to build around.

DH12 is great, but he is not prime Shaq or Kobe.  I don't see him being a champion as a centerpiece.

We have already seen him take a team without another star to the Finals.

So give him a star that can create baskets, yes, he can be the centerpiece of a champion.

Here here!

Miami will never be the Evil Empire. That belongs to the Lakers and only the Lakers.

I realize that, in the short term, Miami looks like a bigger threat.
