Well, most of all that was hindering the Lakers' acquisition of Howard was his reluctance to re-sign in L.A. Now he wants to join Kobe and the gang.  :'( GG

Quote
Dwight Howard has long coveted the Brooklyn Nets as his next landing spot, but after a summer filled with daily rumors of four-team trade proposals, the six-time All-Star has moved on from his Big Apple infatuation and is locked in on joining the Los Angeles Lakers, according to sources.

The Lakers, Orlando Magic and Cleveland Cavaliers are reportedly discussing a three-team trade that would send Howard to the Lakers, Andrew Bynum to the Cavaliers, while the Magic would receive Anderson Varejao and multiple draft picks.

Howard has always been impressed with the Lakers’ winning tradition and intrigued with the off-court opportunities that come with playing in Los Angeles.

Questions about Howard's role with the team, however, became an early concern for the three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year. Howard has since moved on from those concerns and is confident he will be an integral part of a team that will have a chance to compete immediately for a championship, according to sources.

The Lakers are reportedly ready to make the trade, but first need assurance from Howard that he will commit to the team long-term. Sources say Howard is “excited” about the opportunity to play for the Lakers and will re-sign with the team when his contract expires at the end of the 2012-13 season

Thank God this is almost over! At least we won't have to face him except it if our teams both make the finals! Time to win! Forget Howard and everyone else... ALL ABOUT THE CELTS BABY!!!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Scary team.

Steve Nash, Kobe, who cares, Pau, Howard...  That is a team that should fit extremely well together, as long as everybody is about winning and not about getting their share of shots.  Not sure they match up very well with OKC, but they'll definitely be competitive.

Hypothetical Celtics/Lakers get to the finals, How do can stop that frontline? DA should think ahead, and get another large body just in case. Road to #18 just became impossible. Celtics need homecourt advantage to even have smallest of chances in the playoffs.

i hate the Lakers !!!!

if this goes through - they have done it again - grabbing the most coveted free agent in the league ............. and teams seem to have a desire to hand over great players to them for nothing (like the deals Red use to swing for us).

Memphis gifts them Pau for his brother. they were going nowhere until that trade and end up with two titles as a result.

now Pheonix hands over Nash for nothing, and if they get Howard, it's like Shaq all over again, though Howard will not be the offensive force that O'Neal was in his prime.

it does help that Jimmy Buss is running the show now and seems pretty clueless - plus, even if Mike Brown could actually coach, i don't see much respect or response from his players. add the fact that they don't have much perimeter shooting and a very weak bench.

maybe Bryant and Nash fade before they have a chance to do too much damage.
I DO NOT want them tying us for most titles - ever !!

If Howard signed by the Lakers, Lakers are the favorites to win the ring, before than Miami.

Kobe, Nash, Gasol, Howard?, This team is unstoppable.

But GO CELTICS, Celtics have to sign more players.

Howard, if they sign him, will improve their defense, but that's it. Howard & Gasol would be scary, but Nash & Kobe, at this point, are not that good.

Hopefully they have to take Turkoglu and Kobe starts blaming everyone for not giving him the ball to shoot 30 times a game.

Let's go Celtics!

Because the Lakers are one ring away from having 17. And all my life the Boston Celtics have had the most championships.

Nash, Howard, Kobe, Gasol is insane. Now that Stern will say about this? Stern should be the same thing that he does with CP3.

The NBA is a circus now and a shame.

imo, i'm glad dwight is heading to the lakers.  i think bynum has the ability to be a better center than howard and is a bit younger.
