I've been holding back on writing this post for a while now, because I wanted to see if things would die down on their own. But it's been around two weeks since Ray Allen decided to join the Miami cHeat, and we're still talking about him.
I personally think it's pointless to look into it this much. Ray left for his own reasons, reasons we'll probably never know. Yes, he took less money for the same number of years. Yes, he went to (arguably) our biggest rival right now. Yes, he betrayed Pierce and KG, the true Celtics. But there was a reason Ray left, and however pointless it may seem to us, it mattered to him.
He's moved on from the Celtics and it's time we move on from him (until he comes back to the Garden, that is).
All I'm trying to say is that we've had a very successful offseason, and there's still lots going on. We should be happy and we should be excited with what we have, and not just because, y'know, "we should," but because we're going to have an excellent team next year if everyone stays healthy.
We have KG, Bass, Wilcox, and Jeff Green returning. We have Jason Terry for some punch off the bench. We have three EXCELLENT draft picks in Sully, Melo, and KayJay (yep, you heard me, KayJay). And we still have the possibility that we'll add more, like Courtney Lee or the ever-loveable Pietrus. Barring major injuries, we're going to win a lot of games next year and we're going to compete in the playoffs. So let's focus on all of this positivity for a bit, and leave behind the negativity Ray introduced when he went down to South Beach.
What I do not want people doing is replying to this with any mention of Ray. I'm moving on. If you haven't, feel free to comment on any of the other Ray threads going around. I, for one, am going to spend the rest of my offseason watching the summer league and learning more about some of our awesome acquisitions. I'm not judging you if you don't, but you might be a lot happier if you just forget about the guy for a while.
I'm out, and go Celtics
