I am not a huge fan of Andersen, but I still think he would be a great pickup.  As a 4th or 5th big, he will give us nice depth, and some energy and rebounding that we could really use.  Basically he is a slighty richer man's Ryan Hollins.  If he comes for the minimum, get him signed.

Are you kiddin?

I dont even wanna hear any centers name in the same sentence as hollins.
Andersen is a far better defender, rebounder AND shotblocker and he has good hands compared to hollins who has a major case of butterfingers.

Eh, he is a better rebounder and shot blocker, but Hollins is a better positional defender.  Not sure about the hands though (I have barely seen Anderson touch the ball).  Basically, they both are guys you don't want in your rotation if you can help it.  But they both can be useful at the end of the bench and for spot minutes as energy guys.

Ive seen a lot of andersen, alot of denver games in the past so I KNOW what he does well. Andersen is a vet who knows how to play defense and hes always been a solid defender. Im not saying andersen is some superstar but compared to hollins he looks like one  ;D

Hollins has never even averaged 1 block per season and the guy is 7 feet tall. Never even averaged 3 rebounds, like i said this guy is a complete bum compared to andersen.

I have seen enough of Anderson to know he is a human pogo-stick.  That is great for the stat sheet, but not always ideal for team defense.  I think Hollins is a better team defender (which is why he is still in the league).  Anderson gets caught out of position way too much (which can be a real problem in the C's system), which has held him back from being a better overall player.

I am not saying Andersen isn't an upgrade, he certainly is one.  But the upgrade isn't that great.  There is a reason this guy was cut, even though he is making pretty average money for a backup center.

Can he still play at a high level? I never thought he's the kind of guy who'd age well.

Maybe he got amnestied because the Nuggets think he's going to jail?

Or has this been resolved?

Just looking at stats from last year he averaged:

5.3 pts on about 55% FG, 5 rbs, 1.5 blocks in 15 mpg

Those are in line with his career averages.

I thought it was resolved as a bum charge but I haven't followed it that closely.

I agree that the upgrade isnt huge but i do believe that the reason hollins is in the league is because of his size not his defense.

I dont hink Doc and Danny were saying to eachother; "hey we should get this guy hollins, his defense is really good", i think it was more along the lines of; "hey hes a 7-footer and can hopefully clog some paint for us"

Its a league without skilled  bigs nowadays....

Well, the size goes without saying.  I thought that was assumed.  There are not many guys over 6'10" who are mobile and able to pick up the defensive schemes.  But there are plenty of guys who are 7' tall, who are just as athletic as Hollins, who can't play positional defense like he can...and that is why they are not in the league, and he is.

I thought it was resolved as a bum charge but I haven't followed it that closely.
Okay so he was still producing. He was battling knee issues wasn't he? I wonder if those are bad enough for the Nuggets to cut the cord.

It can't be ruled out I suppose but since they signed Randolph now it could just be they are taking the gamble on a younger player with more upside.  Makes sense to me.

Well however you look at it there is no way im taking hollins over birdman. Especially not if its for the same cash.

Celtics can get Anderson very cheap but do they want him?
We worked him out two years ago and didn't sign him.

Four years. Offseason 2008.

Forget about Hollins, the relevant comparison in Delonte West in the running for which guy has more horrible tattoos.

"Documents reviewed by The Denver Post confirm that she repeatedly represented herself to be of legal age and that her family later demanded payment from Andersen.

"I want him to pay for everything on her Amazon wishlist and 5k for her bedding stuff and her victoria secret wishlist," wrote a person purporting to be the young woman's mother.

In 2010, Andersen began receiving letters and photos showing the young woman "scantily clad," Bresee said. In 2011, she flew to Colorado for a visit. She later became upset when Andersen no longer showed interest in her, according to the statement.

"In 2012, she then threatened to retaliate if he did not provide financial remuneration," Bresee wrote. "Professional athletes are routinely targeted by these types of individuals. The media has been speculating that he is a suspect, and not a victim, in a criminal investigation."

Douglas County officials clarified Friday that they have not named Andersen as a target of their investigation.

We have "recovered property from Mr. Andersen's residence that we believe is connected to this case," said Sgt. Ron Hanavan. "We want to reiterate that a search warrant was executed and no arrests have been made. No individual(s) are being identified as the focus of this investigation."

Certainly looks like Anderson is the victim here.  I wouldn't be surprised if this girl's mother is the one who ends up in trouble.  What mother thinks her child is being molested by a guy and then when the guy won't return her phone calls demands he buy her daughter lingerie?

Four years ago, someone on the boards here met him at the airport when Andersen was on his way back from Boston where he presumably worked out for the Celts.

I hope he comes to the Celts. At the time, his contract value was not high.
