Nope, they need another center--as Danny said last night.

I hope Danny's prepared to lace them up then, because he may have to play SG this season.

I like the current roster quite a bit but the team needs another center and another SG.

Rondo, Bradley, PP, Bass, KG, Green, Terry, Wilcox.  nice 8 man rotation right there without including the 1st and 2nd year players.  However, it's thin at Center and SG.  If Pietrus and Steimsma can be resigned, that's a [dang] solid 10 man rotation.  Anything from the youth would just be gravy

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
I'd add Darko just to have a center who can defend guys like Bynum and Howard. Garnett doesnt have the bulk and from what I rememberof Wilcox hes a subpar defender as well as undersized. Cut Williams or Johnson, resign Pietrus and we are good to go.

i would like to see johnson and moore shipped out but am resigned to the fact that they will make the team

Final Roster:
PG Rondo, Moore
SG: AB, Terry, TBA SG (pietrus or christmas..i prefer that it not be christmas..think he is a waste of a spot)
SF: PP, Green Joseph
PF Bass, Sully, Johnson
C KG, Wilcox, TBA vet min, Melo

I see Johnson and Melo spending the entire year in the D League
I see Moore being Rondo's back up (and doing surprisingly good) and Sully earning good minutes with the second unit
I see Terry as the 6th man and playing most of the 4th quarters at the 2
Only thing I don't see is who starts at the SG until AB comes back

Lee or (now much more likely) Pietrus.

I'd give Pietrus the BAE and try to find a vet min big. We need a SG more than we need another big.

Ironic... we were in most need of bigs before this offseason. Then Wilcox returned and we got Sully and Melo. Good job by DA.

i am just afraid pietrus is going to command more than the BAE...i could live with him starting for a few months and keeping moore as a cheap PG back up

I haven't heard ANY interest ANYWHERE for Pietrus, and he's made it clear he loves Boston. We offer the BAE, and I'm 90% sure he takes it.

Me too. I hope we learn about Lee within the next few days, and if it isn't gonna happen, DA can focus his efforts on Pietrus and make him feel wanted.

Couldn't you slide PP to the 2 spot and run Rondo, Pierce, Green, Bass, and KG?

All the major pieces are already in place.

Only talking about a few minor pieces at this stage in the game to round it out as well as Danny possibly can. Doesn't look like Danny can get any more than that.

You could, but that leaves Jason Terry as the primary backup for all the 1-3 positions. You still need to sign another rotation-caliber guard.

That could work, but PP is a bit slow for the quicker 2s in the league and do we really want to rely more heavily on an aging Pierce?  He looked banged up and just plain tired by the post-season, so I think he needs to get a whole lot more rest this year.  Maybe not quite to the 5-5-5 plan level but his minutes need to go down.

I blame most of last years injuries (across the league) on the lockout. No practice. No training camp. No interaction with a team medical staff... not a good scene.

That said, while I'm sure we'll grab another game-ready wing--I can't imagine us not re-signing Peaches if we strike out everywhere else--I don't really have any qualms with throwing the rookies & sophomores to the fire and making them play.

It won't be as nice as watching some of our proven players, but I don't think we'll look like the Bobcats or anything.
