KG might get arrested for assault if we sign him.

Should we take the risk?

I would avoid both Blatche and Darko.   Both are chronic underachievers.

Calling Blatche an underachiever is not really fair he has posted 9pts 6reb for his career. Being the 50th pick in the draft I say thats decent returns. Now if you want to call him underachieving due to his contract size sure, but that isnt Blatche's fault. Wizards decided to pay an mentally unstable kid with OK production the money.

In regards to Darko he should have never been the 2nd pick in the draft. European centers never work out (The great Arvydas Arbonis is the exception). Dumars doomed this poor kids career, he was never meant to be anything else then a servicable back up. his best season came in 2010 with 8pts and 5rebs per game. So I guess he is an undeachiever because he was overrated by a GM not due to talent.

If I were to choose, I would rather go after Robin Lopez before these two. Having said that I would go with Darko over Blatche. Soft athletes are my biggest pet peeve. Mark Blount being the most hated Celtic of all time in my book.

How about Vlade, Smits, Okur, Marc Gasol, etc...etc?
There have been a lot of European centers that could play.
There's just a lot of young, unproven guys that become busts in the draft. And the bigger they are, the higher they get picked.

I can already picture KG on all fours like a dog barking at him from full court during practice and Blatche wanting to cry, get him if even for that alone  ;D

Question for all of you knowledgeable folks here about the amnesty procedure. So let's say that Blatche clears waivers and becomes an unrestricted free agent after the Wizards amnesty him. He has 3 years, 23 million remaining on the contract he signed back in 2010. If the Celtics sign him for the vet's min, does that mean he's on the books for the vet's min for three years on the Celtics squad?

Nope, just however long the C's would sign him for.
If a team wins a bid on him, they keep him for 3 years at the price they bid on.  so if someone bid $3 mil a year for him, they would pay that and Washington would pay the remaining $14 million.

I'll say this much outta Blatche nd Darko i would take Blatche by far. When he's healthy he put up 18& 9 in a season if im not mistaken. he's shown versatility wit jump shootin a post game nd some athleticism on oops if it wasnt for much money i'd take a chance

The question about Blatche (or Darko) is whether or not either would be an upgrade over Sean Williams who we have on a non-guaranteed and cheap contract.

I just don't know.  None of them really excite me but we probably need a pure center more than a hybrid 4/5 so that would lead us to Darko, then you release Williams and try to get Pietrus and keep Moore.

None of these guys is going to make the team all that much better in all likelihood and it is by no means a given that we can get either Blatche or Darko.

I for one believe that Baltche (i love calling him Baltche i dont know why) being released and a change of scenery might be all that's needed for him to straighten up his act.

With that said, if we are going to be able to get him for the minimum, or maybe at say 2 mil, it a very high risk gamble that we should take.

With all his attitude issues there's an undeniable talent in that knucklehead. Maybe, just maybe, he'll realize that he won't get another shot after this and get himself straight.

Depends on how cheap he would come, i think he's worth the gamble. And if not then, you know, kick him out the curb again.

Read a number of blog responses from the DC area regarding Blatche being amnistied.  No one wanted him to stay.  They were happy to get rid of him.  Too many headaches from what I gather.
Don't believe he would pass Danny's brain doctor mental-screening.  My guess is the Celtics won't even give him the veteran's minimum offer.  He may end up in Miami.

I'm pretty sure Blatche said he looked up to KG at one point  ;D

For a min contract, sure.
