ok ok its summer league but im pretty impressed with moore's play so far. he's been solid the whole summer and i think he will continue to prove himself. the dude wants to play thats for sure. remember last year when he said he was mad he was getting 0 time ? although dooling can defend a lot better i still think its time to start developing young guns while competing

No he shouldn't, his summer league play has been the opposite of what you say. Its confirmed to me that he shouldn't be any part of our PG plans even as deep bench roster guy.

Yeah, I agree. We knew he was a shoot-first PG, we just didn't know he couldn't shoot. No place for him here. Dooling, Pietrus, Joseph, and maybe even Christmas make the team before Moore.

I'd be willing to give Moore a shot at back-up PG over Dooling, but only if we get to keep Dooling on the team in his Jockosopher role, which is irreplaceable.

Dooling $2.7M
Moore 762 K

Dooling makes more money, you need to send out contracts at the deadline,I prefer Dooling, and he's better player than Moore.

  • It's all about the TEAM!
Dooling was really coming on at the end of the season/playoffs. I also love his energy and team chemistry. I'm more comfortable keeping Dooling at this point in time.

Count me also in Dooling's camp. I think the Celtics need a backup PG who can run an offense and defend more than they need another shooter.

for some reason i see potential in moore. if we don't get lee we are going to need more shooters and i just dont think of dooling as a shooter

Bench is
PG-?
SG- terry
sf- green
pf- sully
c- wilcox

just guessing it is something like that i don't think having moore out there is to drastic of a drop in defense. bring him along throughout the season and moore will be able to run the offense, but i understand the concerns of not wanting to do that so just bring in the vet. dooling. i just dont want to lose moore and have last years picks be wasted. we already fudged up by giving brooks to the nets for a beanstalk

Moore can shoot. He has NBA range, and a variety of midrange/ floater moves. His defense is also underrated. He's already at least as good a rebounder as dooling, and IMO he's better than dooling at coming up with steals and blocks. I don't think the advantage dooling has over him in terms of experience  running the offense is worth paying him 3 times as much as Moore.

Add to that, the fact that Moore is still developing and improving while dooling is aging+ declining, and I can't see any real reason to keep dooling over him.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Price shouldn't play a factor, at all, in the decision between Dooling and Moore, as we are already well over the cap. Dooling is also an expiring and may be a better trade asset at the deadline. I don't mind Moore, but if we get any other veteran guard in a fa signing, I think it is over for him here in Boston. We are in win-now mode and already have some good young players.

Didn't Dooling's performance in the playoffs show why he is the better choice?  He can defend his man and turn him all the way up the court. With the acquisition of Terry, we now have a shooter/scorer off the bench to complement him.  Moore struggles to bring the ball up the court against pressure, yet cannot apply any pressure himself lest he be beat off the dribble.

Moore can shoot a bit, but he is too small and too slow to be a quality 2.  His playmaking skills are suspect and he forces too much offense with mixed results in the NBA summer league.  Most of these guys won't be in the NBA and he has trouble both defending them and handling their ball pressure.

Moore is a fringe NBA player at best.  Dooling doesn't playmake or shoot particularly well, although he can get hot sometimes, but he is a proven NBA-quality in your shirt defender who is quick enough to stay with point guards and make life difficult for them.  He and Terry are the perfect complement off the bench.

People just insist on being infatuated with "developing young guys" no matter what their skill level.  Moore's quickness and lack of height are not going to be "developed", he is not a future starter in the league.  Dooling is a vet who knows he is a backup and knows what to do in the limited time he is in the game.  Not even close who should be the backup to Rondo.
