The Wolves expect to get restricted free agent center Greg Stiemsma. Boston is over the cap, so the Wolves feel like they will be able to structure the contract in a fashion such that Celtics general manager Danny Ainge won't be able to match.

Quote
As for getting a wing, the Wolves will sign free agent Courtney Lee if the price is right. But they won't wait long after Thursday morning. If his price is too high, they will move quickly to sign free agent Ronnie Brewer. If Lee waits too long, he won't be a Timberwolf. O.J. Mayo, who chose the Mavericks on Monday night

I don't see them offering much more than a full MLE to Lee. If the money is within a mil or 2 per year Lee chooses Boston. We have to work out a way to s+t for terry 1st though....

I think Stiemsma would return for the BAE if there isn't too much difference between that and Minny's offer. Ainge needs to make a strong and quick push to make that happen though.

Hopefully this is true, but I have my doubts if Minnesota is planning on using the under the cap exception of 2.5 on him like I'm guessing they are.

Didn't Minnesota sign Brandon Roy?

Do they really need Lee?

That's like a Twolves fan saying "Didn't Boston already sign Terry?  Do they really need Lee"?

Roy is probably going to top out around 20 to 25 minutes.  Lee would be a good fit for them, especially since they're reportedly going to flip Wayne Ellington for Dante Cunningham.

Based on that report, I get the feeling Minnesota is not going to be throwing around the money to these guys that some expect.

For Steamer, they just have to offer him $2 million per year, and the C's can't match.  If they want him that badly, then I am not sure what the question is.

For Lee, I just can't imagine him demanding that much money, so the fact that they are saying "for the right price" tells me they are looking for a bargain on him.

Plus Roy's knees are likely to lock up at any time, you cannot count on him to play in your rotation.

yes
Heck I'd like to have Greg and Darko. After what happened last year I'm paranoid about our depth in the frontcourt...

Sadly that many bigs would make my heart rest easier would thin us out too much elsewhere.

I've felt this way ever since Perk's injury. I thought we were covered in 2010-11. That didn't work. I want Blatche on the vet. min. Otherwise I would be fine with Darko and Greg or some other big out there. I don't want Sullinger to HAVE to play backup PF because of our depth.

I don't believe we can S&T Stiemer at all.  No Bird rights or some such.
