Hello all, I kind of went dead for a bit on the writing front thanks to work but I'm back now. If anyone fancies taking a look at this piece I wrote I'd be grateful:

http://sportsmaestros.wordpress.com/2012/07/17/what-is-lebron-james/

Of course, as a person who detests LeBron James, some of this was tough to write.

That was brilliant, maestro. TP. The good part is, it didn't feel too bad that James finally got that ring. It was inevitable. If you put up those kind of numbers (with the help of the refs or not...) you are bound to win at some point. Nice piece, bro.

An egotistical jerk.

Yeah, but to an extent, you could say that about a lot of great players - at least the jerk part.

And nice guys always finish last, you know?

The best player in the league since 08. The 08 Celtics team was the best team since one of those early Lakers/Spurs championship teams. And LeBron had an epic game 7 performance against...thankfully Pierce matched him that night. I was glad we broke his confidence in 2010...However, it ultimately forced him to Miami.

The guy is amazing. I still remember wanting us to tank the year of his draft. (well not tank...but I wouldnt have been upset if we missed the playoffs...and acquired a lotto pick..)

Mainly because of Danny Ainge. He said that while LeBron WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL...that there are only 5 players in the NBA he wouldnt trade for LeBron. (At the time...Shaq, Kobe, Duncan, McGrady (he was great that year...lol) and of course KG)
The thought was LeBron was a PG at the time. So I thought it would be cool/ironic to see the next Magic Johnson as a Celtic, lol. Also...i thought he and Pierce would have been a deadly duo.

oh well.

Thanks bro, appreciate it.

I just think, despite his arrogant demeanour and how he puts himself across, as a basketball player he is just fantastic. We're all basketball fans here, no reason we shouldn't appreciate him on the court.

Granted though, he does do things that make me want to punch him.

that statement could refer to literally every single great player in basketball history.  I mean seriously, they are all like that, which is why they are as great as they are.  Jordan, Bird, Magic, etc. all the same way.  Extremely arrogant and full of themselves.  At least Lebron genuinely seems to care if he is liked unlike many of the others who could give two craps if you like them (I mean seriously could you ever imagine James having the HOF acceptance speech that Jordan had).
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Bigs - Shaquille O'Neal, Victor Wembanyama
Wings -  Lebron James
Guards - Luka Doncic

LeBron James is like the guy in school with the highest IQ by far, but still cheats and takes shortcuts to become valedictorian .
Joining his individual biggest conference rival permanently tarnished James in my eyes. This is from someone who was lucky enough to watch LeBron from the second he became a pro (Boston summer league) and has seen him over a dozen times in person).  He's got the most physical gifts any NBA player has ever had, but couldn't achieve the ultimate goal in his sport until he conspired with Wade and Bosh at the Olympics to create the easiest path to that goal.  That's why I can't respect him.

I'm sure LeBron does care, but I'm sure some of those others do too. But then it could be argued that LeBron has put up with way more than those others.

Also, LeBron's HOF speech will hurt my ears/brain/eyes/feelings. It will be disgustingly egotistical.

Credit where it's due and all that, though  :-\

Nice.

For me, LeBron is the best all around talent the NBA has ever seen but the worst mentally tough superstar.

Besides 3 games against the Mavs...

And game 5 against us, how is he the "Worst Mentally Tough Superstar? "

His teams were always overwhelmed by other teams that had other stars. Was he mentally weak against us in 08? Was he mentally weak against us 2011 and 2012?

I swear the media has us all confused. Im not saying he's the Mentally Toughest out there.....but weakest? C'mon now.

He had to join force with two superstars to get a chip. For me that means he has weak mental toughness. He can't will himself to win unless he has superstar help. His Cleveland teams had the best record in the NBA and couldn't get over the hump. He's the best player in the world and he needed superstar level help to win? That's just me.
