Is that a crazy thought? Decent defender, can finish at the rim, seemed to crash the offensive boards, and is all around steady.  We can then bring Bass of the bench, where he is better suited to go against back up bigs instead of starters.  Of course, this also moves KG back to PF, where he seems to want to be anyway.

Yes, it's absolutely crazy that Wilcox should start over KG at C.  :P Because Garnett is not playing PF, regardless of what he may want.

It's not crazy in that there have been other topics suggesting that on the board.  But Bass played well as a starter last year, and has earned the right to get his name called during introductions.  I'm sure, however, that KG and Wilcox will be on the floor together at some point this year.  Just not at tip-off if everyone is healthy.

That's true -- and by the way, we've had success with a KG/Wilcox lineup for a short stretch before Wilcox went down. Even so, however, I'm not entirely convinced who the C is in that configuration.

I don't think it's a great idea given the current construction of the team.  Now if Ainge is able to bring back Stiemsma or Darko, it could be a different story.  But right now KG and Wilcox are really the only two guys on the team (besides Melo, who by all accounts isn't ready for action) who can play center.  If you start both of them, you're left with options like playing Green and Bass or Bass and Sullinger at the 4/5 together, which isn't a great option.

I'd start Bass.  We had success with that last year.  Then you can bring in Wilcox for KG, and at least always have some semblance of a big man on the court at all times.

I also like Wilcox coming off the bench with Green.  Both are great runners and could really do some damage together with Rondo in the open court, especially when some of the older guys are on the bench later in the first quarter.

I can potentially see a KG/Wilcox starting combo, where KG defends guys down low on defense, and Wilcox plays closer to the basket on offense.

I understand that Bass should probably start, but I don't think the line in bold should be factored in at all.

Me too.  Although I really don't see them messing with what was working (the Bass/KG starting frontcourt).  Particularly if Green and Terry are coming off the bench, Wilcox is probably a better fit there as a guy who will do the dirty work.

Some reason I like Bass off the bench.... he seems to play better and bring instant offense.  Bass seems a bit out of kilter and slow to get going starting as a starter.  SOme guys start fast and others need to get a feel for the game before stepping in.

Steamer seems to be OK as starter or bench.  Wilcox was GREAT coming off the bench to add energy to the second unit. Not sure how he would be starting.

Rondo running the second unit was awesome . ROndo can handle the minutes.

I think  Wilcox , Sully and JET and Joseph would be fun to watch off the bench

KG and Wilcox worked well last year as well.

But since I see Wilcox being the other C until Melo is ready, I think Bass will start.

He would actually be a horrible center. Poor rebounder, hands of stone, no offensive moves, streaky jump shot. Just say no.

I doubt he will. KG will likely start at center most of the time, but I could see him move to PF and Wilcox play C some of the time -- just depends on matchups and health.
Celtics fan for life.
