Read that Webster managed to slip through the amnesty period with no bids. Now an UFA.

Good shooter. Nice rebounding guard.
Can play the 2 and the 3.

Linked to Clippers as of now, but could fit in well next to Rondo. Able to finish at the rim and start.

?
Can't stop, Rondo!

Really surprised no one has talked about Webster yet.

His name isn't on anyone's wish list or suggestions...

Did I miss something on him signing elsewhere or hating Boston?
Pretty sure he was a young stud in Portland that was highly sought after until his payday and trade to Sota
Can't stop, Rondo!

Not a very high IQ player.  Has the physical tools to be good, but I think I'd just rather have Pietrus.

Not sure he can still play SG. Not the best defender; but if he can stay healthy could be a decent pickup.

If he can guard Kobe then he has the job.

I like him.  I've always thought his defense was pretty solid and he's a good three point shooter.  Maybe his defense isn't as good as Pietrus', although Pietrus' defense isn't worthy of its reputation either, but he's a more consistent shooter who thankfully doesn't take extremely difficult step back threes. Injuries have set back his career so far but I still think he has a run of being a valuable role player within him.

It turns out he's also a cousin of Terry. He's been linked to the Clippers but if the Celtics express interest, maybe the family connection will sway him.  I'm not holding out much hope though.

It's ironic after sticking in the NBA better than Gerald Green, his high school counterpart in the 2005 draft, it's Green who has signed a long term deal this offseason.

It continues to amaze me that Webster was compared to Pierce in high school.  That one did die pretty fast but it's standard practice to drop a Pierce comp on highly thought of wings who can shoot but are nevertheless considered average athletes.

Ive always been fond of him, coz he can shoot 3's, finish at the rim emphatically. His d worries me a bit, but hopefully his upside is substantial. Could be a good backup, if we don't get lee, but what about pietrus?

On a side, Martell Webster is Jason Terry's cousin.

Not sure how much upside he carries.  He's bounced around but still only 25.

Webster is another alleged shooter who can't shoot from mid-range.  He certainly could benefit from playing with Rondo His 37% lifetime 3 point percentage and his ability to finish are his only above average NBA tools.  Good size too.

Ainge certainly wouldn't be dissuaded from hiring a relative.

Injuries. Simple as that.

No one knows where his health is at. Plus I believe he had a pretty serious back issue and that could have easily robbed him of a lot of his athleticism.
