The Bulls have contacted teams to ask about their interest in trading for Richard Hamilton, sources say, but have found little interest in the 34-year-old shooting guard.

Hamilton is due $5 million next season, with a mere $1 million guarantee for 2013-14.

Hamilton averaged 11.6 points on 45.2 percent shooting last season.

Would at least give us another UConn guy for Donny to talk about  ;)

He'd be a great option except for his problems with injury.  I think he missed half of the season last year.

This.  The fact that he is being let go by Chicago tells you all you need to know.

When he was first going there I was worried because he was exactly what they needed but I just don't think he has it anymore.

Agreed 100%.  I live in Chicago and saw Rip play a lot last year...when he wasn't hurt.  He was a bad fit with Rose and looked old and worn out.  His game is all legs...constantly running through screens and elevation on that mid range jumper.  No legs = no chance.

I understand that RIP is getting up there and breaking down.

However if Mayo and Lee are not option I think RIP could be a good fit if the Bulls just want to get him off the payroll. Maybe a Dooling + Moore + S Williams for Rip?

Then also resign Pietrus. Rip would be playing a significantly reduced role when AB comes back. This limited role may help him stay healthy for the season while giving us length and more shooting on the wing.

Guards RR,AB,Terry,RIP
Wings  PP,Green,Pietrus,Joseph
Bigs   KG,Bass, Sully, Darko?,JJJ, Melo

thats 14 man roster with only 3 guys JJJ, Melo, and joseph being guys not likely to see regulare minutes.

the 15th spot can be left open, filled with a camp surprise( Dionte Christmas?) or a PG (Lucas III?)

I'd take Rip over Tracy Mcgrady, who has been talked about on this site as a potential Lee/Mayo contingency plan.

He's healthy, he could have a full preseason, and he could slot in pretty well to what Doc liked to do with Ray.

Not my first choice, but over Mcgrady if it comes to that? Yes.

I'd prefer Lee or Mayo; however, if neither of those are options and the Bulls are essentially giving him away, I'd strongly consider it.

With the way some people are dismissing Hamilton, you'd think we have Dwayne Wade lined up to sign the minimum as the alternative.  Hamilton would be a bench player for 15-20 mpg tops once Bradley came back and could probably ease himself into Ray's old offensive sets in the meantime.

Haha. great point.

I guess id take him for cheap but he wouldnt be my first option. Is he SG or more of A 3? I feel like hed have trouble finding minutes.

Agreed.
Although in my book there are other FA/on-the-market options that I'd probably prefer over RIP and TMac, including Delonte West and Dahntay Jones.

I'd probably take Christmas over both...

Is Delonte an UFA? If so, I'm surprised that I haven't heard much about him. Great backup PG who knows the system. I wonder if the fact that he's had two tours in Boston is enough to close the door on him.

Given that the team voluntarily let him go last season, you probably won't hear about him, either.

Yup !!   That guy is alot like a younger/healthy Pietrus , he is really hungry to play and be part of this team .  SO when he comes in he is going to make some plays, steals, take charges, dive for balls , rebound ...can't get enough MR HUSSLE players.
