I'm holding on to hear more from Ray himself and others in the Celtics before I make my mind up 100% on this one. I want to know how Paul and KG feel about the move. And I have an idea if the fans boo Alien then those two won't support it as much as some here think.
I feel like we should have already heard.  At this point, we might have to wait for the tell-all memoirs.
They won't talk about this all that much until the season starts and we play Miami.
Peace through Tyranny

We'll be having Ray love/hate threads at least until next summer, probably more if we play the cHeat in the playoffs, which I hope because I want our team to destroy those morons.

I don't think it's a terrible thing, by the way. It shows how passionate Celtic fans are about their team and players. We've had bring back Toine/Gerald Green threads for years. Only in the last 5 years, sky was falling down when DA let Posey go for his contract. Then, we had the love/hate for Sheed/Marbury/Nate/BBD, and the eternal "why doesn't Doc play the rookies". In the 2009-2010 season, CelticsBlog was divided between "Negatrons" and "Optimist Primes".

Then, the Perk trade did happen. Sky was falling again, and our community was torn about that trade and its consequences.

I think this Ray thing won't be that big. He'll play some games and we'll wish him "turrible" play, then he'll play against us (maybe the opener game in Miami, Stern wants ratings) and I'll want to puke if he doesn't go 0-8 and 4-9 from the FT line. The tribute video thing will be interesting when LeBroid and the Chipmunks pay visit to the Garden, and then it will cool off until the playoffs. Hopefully we crush them, and Ray has his worst playoffs, doesn't reach the 3pt playoff record and opts out in july. Then some more hate/love (we told you so, Ray/come back, Ray) threads. Then nothing, nothing, kind of nothing until he retires and then some more Benedict Allen discussion.

I think we'll have a good time in Celticsblog.

Go Celtics!!!

P.S.: The Fakers are the enemy, cHeat will be forgotten in 5 years.

The guy did nothing wrong.  He exercised his right as a free agent to play for whichever team he wanted, which unfortunately wasn't us.  Why the vitriol? He gave us 5 great years, always handled himself with class and professionalism (even though he was shopped relentlessly the last few years and benched for the first time in his career last season), and always stayed in shape and played hard.  Looking at it from his perspective, why would he stay here and be a reserve when he could do that for the defending champs? We made it pretty clear we were going in a different direction.  People are going to talk about loyalty, but loyalty is a two way street and the truth is that the Celtics didn't show Ray much loyalty last year.

I sorry, but when you leave a team for a team that your fighting in the play offs, the team that no one but year olds like, the loyalty goes right out the door.

I love what Ray did while he was here, he was one of my favorite players. It was a good   years, but how he ended it leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

Its like when your dating this girl and things are good for a while, then there are some bumps in the road. But instead of working out she leaves you. Okay fine, but you find out she leaves you for the "cool guy", you know the one the Principle will do anything for, even make sure he's prom king. It just hurt a little more.

now if Ray had gone to the Clippers, or Suns, or even the Knick or Bulls I don't think people would have cared as much.

I mean even the...dare i say the fLakers would have been better than the cHeats in perspective that we only would see him twice a year, and MAYBE in the finals. Now we see him 4 times and most likely in the playoffs.

Any team not the Celtics are the enemy to me.   LA is the worst though.   I dislike MIA too.

I think a fan can still like Ray and be a C fan.  It's not for me.  He left us willingly and I see him as traitor but others can have whatever opinion they want.  I am thankful for the title and all the good years but you move on and I move on as a fan....

I am a person who appreciates the game
and likes certain teams more than others,
not based on the jersey they wear, or where
their arena is located, but on all the other
tangibles and intangibles which characterize
their persona.
That is why I love this Celtic team.
It is also why I do not love this Patriots team,
do not love this Red Sox team, and like the Bruins,
but did not like them at times in the past.

Thus, I am not your typical "fan".
I wish Ray all the best and will enjoy seeing him
play out the finishing act of his long career no
matter where he plays.
People need to realize and let it sink in that
Ray has been playing basketball almost all his life
and is a certain HOF legend.
He didn't like to hear he was traded.
He didn't want to sit in back of a "rookie",
because that's probably how he still sees Avery Bradley.
When the Celtics pre-empted and signed Jason Terry,
that only made his choice easier.

Ray is a snake.

I'm sorry, you can't be a true Celtic and have any semblance of Celtic pride, and go play for those showboating premaddona's in South Beach.

Would any of the Celtics great ever leave this team for less money?

Good riddance Ray, just don't pretend to be a nice caring guy when all you are is a snake in the grass.

I wish him nothing but futility

The shocking thing to me is the reaction to my comments about LA being our "true" enemy.

This, to me, is like the late 80's - early 90s.....the "end" of the Cold War...US and Russia making nice.

Cats and Dogs playing together.

Next thing you know, Magic and Larry will make a "Kum Bi Ya" video together - with LA fans and Celtics Fans holding hands and singing in the background.

Makes me sick just thinking about it.
A Larry/Magic Kum bi Ya video wouldn't bother me half as much as Ray signing with the Heat for less money because he didn't like the possibility of being traded (waaahhh) or didn't like Rondo (wwahhhh) or didn't like losing minutes to Avery Bradley (waahhh) or wanted the sun of Miami (cue the Real Housewives of Miami music)

And those three things I underlined are all suppositions, because we probably won't ever know the truth, will we?
