The guy did nothing wrong.  He exercised his right as a free agent to play for whichever team he wanted, which unfortunately wasn't us.  Why the vitriol? He gave us 5 great years, always handled himself with class and professionalism (even though he was shopped relentlessly the last few years and benched for the first time in his career last season), and always stayed in shape and played hard.  Looking at it from his perspective, why would he stay here and be a reserve when he could do that for the defending champs? We made it pretty clear we were going in a different direction.  People are going to talk about loyalty, but loyalty is a two way street and the truth is that the Celtics didn't show Ray much loyalty last year.

Can people stop questioning the C's loyalty?

All players get shopped at some point, Rondo has been in countless trade. Even Paul Pierce - a man whose # will hang in the rafters some day - has heard his name rumours. Its Danny's job to find deals to make the team better. He wasn't shopping Ray because he wanted him gone or he didn't personally like him. Hearing Jeff Green and Chris Wilcox discuss how this entire organization rallied behind them through life-threatening issues, this teams loyalty to its players shouldn't be questioned.

Ray Allen is gonna get crap - he's now playing with our biggest conference rival, in the same role we asked of him but for half the price. I don't know what happened in that locker room, but the stories coming out about Ray's jealousy and ego have left some with a bad taste in their mouth towards him. Just like its your right to defend him, its their right to dislike his decision.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Tonight on The Ray Allen show, we're going to start off with calling him, then breathing heavily into the phone, and the hanging up. Then, we will re-watch highlights from the 2008 Finals, and talk about how stupid Lebron James's hairline is.

Tune in next week when our special guest will be Dan Gilbert!

EDIT: Tp for anyone who gets the reference. 2TPS If you're born after 1989.

I trash LeBron, Wade, Bosh, Battier, et al, all the time, because they're on the Heat.  I'm sure I would quickly cheer for them should they ever become Celtics, but they're on the Heat, and so I loathe them.  Ray gets the same treatment now.

This I have no issues with. Not a single ioata.

Ray complained about touches.

He complained about not starting.

He's not going to get either on the Heat yet he took less money, less years, less security to play for the OTHER team.

If he had any dignity or principles he would have picked half a dozen other teams to join where he could have a more touches and the chance to start.

Heck he could have gone to the Bulls and it would have made more sense.

I just cant bro. hahaha. Its like Ray calling out David West last year, and him doing it this year albeit not because of money but because of spite.

If it was for money I would have accepted it. but come on, him joining the divas in Miami with Count Dracula Riley, really gets on my nerves.

And i believe Ray deserves this. Him doing a full page Ad on the news rubs more salt on the wounds. Damage control Lebron style IMHO.

Like I have said in other threads. If I was Ray I probably would have done the same thing. Lets move on. I personally think we will be better with Terry and we won't have to pay a 41 year old 6 million dollars.

The absolutely HILARIOUS THING here is that our TRULY hated enemies, The Lakers, seem to be "growing" on us since they aquired Steve Nash.

I get the feeling around here that MIA has moved up the "disliked" chain to replace LA.

Since when did THAT happen?

To be honest, the Lakers grow on me just like 3-day old funk, lol.

But seriously - let's refocus and place our hate back on LA. For IF Steve gets his FIRST ring, then that will mean Kobe gets his SIXTH.

And THAT CANNOT HAPPEN.

lakers are washed up has-beens. they have no chance of contending like the heat who blocked us twice now. lebron is enemy #1.

But let's be honest, here.

Lebron is "enemy #1", NOW, because Ray Allen chose to go to MIA.

He took one of our Family.

And LA with Steve Nash do have a shot. And latest reports is that Grant Hill is considering LA, along with two other teams.

If they can't get it done without Nash, then it wasn't meant to be.
