I think you are forgetting about Paul Pierce in terms of something right in front of us.  We can play Green at SF and slide Pierce to the SG spot.  I don't see any reason why he couldn't play there for up to 20 minutes until Bradley gets back.

This is why I hope we don't "reach" to get either Mayo or Lee.  Either would be a nice young player to add to the mix but we don't want to over spend (either in terms of assets given up or future salary).

I would expect that you would see much more of Pierce at SG over Christmas, Joseph, or Moore, at least outside of garbage time.

I agree with this. There is no reason Pierce can't play SG until Bradley comes back, he is a better defender than Ray was and I don't believe in this day of the NBA there is much difference in guarding the SG or SF position.

Or, we try and sign McGrady for the vet minimum for 1 year and he can play SG until Bradley gets back.

I'd much rather do that than tie up long term money in a perennial role player that we already have in Terry.

Guys, Joe Forte looked outstanding at the summer league. We want to put the last hurrah(s) on these guys, I'm not convinced.

OJ Mayo please. He can create his shot (which we needed last yr. in the playoffs), he can pass. He's a good guy for us to bring off the bench (maybe start until Avery is ready to come back). I think he's going to shine again if he gets on the right team, because he was very good his first few years. Then they changed the lineup on him & he was just alright.

Great point! I can't believe I haven't considered that possibility.  Here are my initial reactions:
Pros-
We won't need to waste the BAE/ overpay somebody/ give away assets in a S/T.
That allows us to use the BAE on steamer or some other front-court help if we need to.
It gives JG more minutes which should allow him to develop chemistry with RR et al more quickly.
Cons-
Paul is a little slow for the 2 spot so if teams go small/quick it would hurt us.
PP is old- the last thing we need is him to get more minutes.
If AB is out longer than expected we'd be pretty much screwed.

Those are just my initial thoughts.

here is our current roster of healthy guys who can play 1-2: Rondo, Terry, PP?
Now here are our 4 and 5s: KG, Bass, Wilcox, Sully, Melo, JG, JJJ?

My only concern is Pierce guarding quick 2s (like Avery Bradley, or all those pesky guards the 76ers throw out there) and the added injury risk of Pierce playing two positions.  I'm in favor of coddling Pierce and Garnett an unprecedented amount this year (neither should exceed 30 mpg once all season, IMO) and relying on PP as our fill-in 2 would throw a wrench into that plan.
