It seems like there are far more people who very much disapprove of Allen's actions, feel betrayed by him and consequently don't think well of him.
The reasons are numerous and have been articulated very well by many on this board.
Since Allen did his damage-control, self serving disingenuous "ad" for himself (NOT for the Boston fans, that's for sure), why can't we, i.e. those fans who feel aggrieved, respond in kind with an "ad" expressing our displeasure with what many of us construe as his treacherous, traitorous actions.
I'll contribute to any fund that will further this.
(Allen, thru either Donny Marsahll or puppet Tanguay, said that Allen thought that the "goodwill" that Allen had built up in New England both at UConn and with the Cs would win the day over any ill-feelings that were going to be generated. Sounds like Allen knew he was doing the dishonorable thing from the beginning! I think that he also miscalculated, which often happens when decisions are made in anger.)
Let's send him a message that the goodwill is gone!
I'm sure it will really destroy him to know there is a subset of vindictive and childish clowns who can't get over his choice and his right to decide on his employer. Let's take out an ad trashing Ray and we will see how the the rest of the NBA interpret it and how it reflects on Boston as a free agent destination. When a respected professional like Ray Allen, an NBA champ, a guy active in the community, a Hall of Famer, a pro's pro, takes the time and expense to thank the city he's leaving and this is how we respond, by publicizing for all to see the level of hysterical idiocy that has greeted his free agent signing with Miami, I wonder what everyone will think? Great idea!
If this isn't a cause for either a ban or warning I don't know what is...
But, ImShakhesShaq - let's be real, here.
Over the last week or so, I have NEVER seen some of the comments on this Blog that I have witnessed - and I have monitored this Blog since 2006..joined it in Oct09.
All because Ray Allen made a decision to leave BOS for MIA.
With THAT being said, if I was to hit the "report to Mod" button on EVERYTHING that offended me, I'd be a busy man - especially over the last week or so.
Personally, i think the Mods have done EXTREMELY WELL in keeping BOTH sides of this thing open, to be honest.
Crushmaster, while brutally honest, I think deserves to speak his/her mind.
Yea, speaking your mind is one thing... that is what the forum is for! However, there are rules that seem to only be applied to certain people.
Calling people "vindictive and childish clowns" is another matter.
I didn't even say I disagree or agree with what he is saying (without the name calling) but let me call someone a childish clown and see how quickly I get warned! In fact, I have been warned for less!
But ImShak - If I hit the "Report to Mod" button on SOME of these comments I've seen here...look, I'm a Christian, and indeed SOME of these comments are certainly offensive, to me.
I mean, telling a GROWN MAN with kids and a wife to - "Go to Hell?" - just because he made a decision that he thought was best for him?
I realize that I'm not perfect, either - FAR from it. I'm learning slowly but surely that everyone don't think like I do. But I love them regardless.
If Crushmaster wishes to post his/her feelings, BUT IN A PRO-RAY ALLEN light, then he/she should be able to do so.
Are you even reading what I said? I don't care one way or the other about whether he chooses to support Ray... he can build a float to him for all I care! I wouldn't even care if he calls people the worse things in the history of man, however, other people are warned for LESS... so either the rule should apply to all or to none! I'm not pressing a report button at all b/c I don't care enough to do so. I just saw someone breaking a rule and it was like he wasn't but I can go to other threads and find people doing the same and getting their message deleted and a warning (or ban)!
In the end what you are saying does not make sense to me b/c I am not talking about the message but that he is seemingly allowed to forgo the rules that others cannot! He could have said everything he said w/o the "vindictive childish clowns" bit.
But ImShak - Yes, the rules should be applied across the board.
But don't you think that myself (and others here), would've been offended by some of the comments here over the last week or so.
Yes - Crushmaster was brutally honest. I wouldn't have said that - even if I thought it.
BUT - to me it is NO WHERE near as bad as telling someone to "Go to hell."
Don't you think THAT is offensive?
This whole subject is definitely a lightning rod, no doubt. And it has brought forth emotions on BOTH SIDES.
I am not talking about someone who got in trouble for saying "go to hell" because I wasn't even aware someone said it honestly.
I have said numerous times that people can take offense to a lot of things said and it can become too much... you'd be banning people for days.
For instance, in the chat room I would say "ugh" if I didn't like something happening during the game, I was warned not to say it because someone said it "bothered" him. Now that's crazy! I wasn't cussing or anything close to it but just because it was "annoying" one person I was warned (even though I had been saying it since the first time I came into the chat room). I have been warned for calling someone names (even though I was not talking about the person I was replying to, I was talking about people in general, much like I think that poster was).
Again, I would not care one way or the other, if the rule was applied to every poster!
I even wish there was more freedom to say what you want to say (w/o cussing b/c of kids). Like if someone posts something stupid you can say, "you are stupid for saying that" or what that guy said in his original post! Heck, I want to go "in" on some people too but I don't feel like being chastised like a child for it... so I skirt around it and say it in the nicest possible way (as nice as I can anyway lol).
I am tired of these threads too that's why I said what Ray did was shady when he did it but I am not there complaining about it every 5 seconds. I am one of the few who actually hoped he signed elsewhere... so I don't need to write messages about him anymore because I actually smiled a bit when he didn't return (I just don't like him for being a cHeat because I don't like that team, it has nothing to do with Ray lol because to me he can't make or break them)!
Let's go Celtics! Enough with the Ray threads... I only read them b/c there is nothing else happening on CB!
