It seems like there are far more people who very much disapprove of Allen's actions, feel betrayed by him and consequently don't think well of him.

The reasons are numerous and have been articulated very well by many on this board.

Since Allen did his damage-control, self serving disingenuous "ad" for himself (NOT for the Boston fans, that's for sure), why can't we, i.e. those fans who feel aggrieved, respond in kind with an "ad" expressing our displeasure with what many of us construe as his treacherous, traitorous actions.

I'll contribute to any fund that will further this.

(Allen, thru either Donny Marsahll or puppet Tanguay, said that Allen thought that the "goodwill" that Allen had built up in New England both at UConn and with the Cs would win the day over any ill-feelings that were going to be generated. Sounds like Allen knew he was doing the dishonorable thing from the beginning! I think that he also miscalculated, which often happens when decisions are made in anger.)

Let's send him a message that the goodwill is  gone!

If/Before "we" send such a message, as you seem to see fit - PLEASE make sure it contains the FULL spectrum of opinions, thoughts, etc....

....just not one side.

For some, the goodwill is NOT gone.

I don't want to "Dan Gilbert" Ray like that. Let's just be classy and win the championship instead

We'd still be stuck on 16 without Ray.  Vindictively giving him a middle finger on the way out of town (after the team tried to trade him repeatedly) seems like a waste of money to me.

Well, first, I don't think I'd ever spend my money on such a thing.  I'd consider it a waste, even though I mostly agree with the sentiment.

I don't really think it would work the way you want it though.  If a contingent of people decide to pool their money together to post an ad in a newspaper, the message is up to those who put up the money.  Or more likely, the message is controlled by a single indivdual, who organizes the movement and collects the money necessary.

If you don't agree with the message, you could simply not contribute any of your own money to the cause.  Also, you could organize or contibute to a message you see as more appropriate.

Well, at the VERY least, I'd hope (and expect) that if such a venture came to fruition, that they would place a blurb or sidenote in it along the lines of - "Ray Allen, the following comments are NOT inclusive of ALL Celtics/Ray Allen fans, but..."

...and then they could post whatever comments they wanted to.

Let's not waste anyone's money--and let's realize that Ray, too, is a child of God while we're at it.

Life is about gestures, therefore it cannot be a waste.

I like the idea of an ad.

The background: Picture of KG scowling; standing next to theThe Truth, smiling and Rondo wearing sunglasses, and Avery Bradley wearing a Honey Badger Shirt.

I would choose not to waste any time/money aiming at how Ray Allen feels. I don't care about it. He was my favorite current Celtic when he was here. Now he's a Miami player.

Focus on our players, they deserve our attention, and our cheers. The Celtics are bigger than anyone, and KG, Pierce, Rondo, and the rest of the team are great. Make them feel our support and eff the rest.

It's highly probable that the Celtics show a video tribute to Ray the first time he plays in the Garden. The Celtics deserve that their fans give a standing ovation to the video tribute, and next, shout "Let's Go Celtics" all the way to Gino Time. Don't let any team, even LeBroid and the Chipmunks, think they're that special.

Let's Go Celtics!!!

Does anyone actually read the local paper anymore?  Seriously.  I don't think I've read a newsprint version of the Boston Globe in two years.
