I think this is out of Danny's control.  They just don't have the money to compete with what other teams could offer him.  I am sure if Danny could choose, Steamer would already be under contract, but it doesn't work that way.

First, I love Steamer and would love for Danny to sign him.

That said, I read that the reason he dropped off the U. S. Olympic team was because of his feet.  I hope his plantar fasciitis has not gone from a temporary problem to  a chronic one...it was never really given it a chance to heal last year.

He didn't drop the Olympic team, only the US Select team that has practiced with the Olympic team. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't back off, if he was going to London.

And yes, I want Stiemsma back, too!

Sorry, that was what I meant to say.  You are correct...Regardless, it was said to be because of his feet.

Except in this case we can't pay him more money due to the salary cap. The only way to pay him would be to use the MLE or BAE (which won't be high enough)). Would you rather have him or Terry?

I like Steamer, he gave great effort when he felt well. He is not a bad rebounder , shot blocker , when he healthy .   My only fear is him staying healthy .  I would rathe have Steamer than alot of big's .  Kristic is so ooooooooooooo fustrating to watch as "HE" watchs and plays no defense.  Steamer isn't scard to play tuff.

If Steamer' s feet are 100%, he is a far better than Hollins and Williams.

i would love Stiemsma back, I would give him the BAE no doubt... but the ball is not really in our court anymore.

if he gets offered $3million by the T-wolves theres nothing we can do to match it.

we can only hope that Melo can bring the same shot-blocking that steimer did if the T-wolves offer him that

C'mon, where are all the local sponsors to give him a deal if he signs locally--like Dwight Howard getting more from Adidas for signing in NY or LA?

Ditto. If Steemer would take the BAE, he's back. If someone bids more than that for his services, he's gone. Given the going rate for centers these days, it is highly likely some team will give him a contract starting at $3M per year. ergo, he's likely gone. nothing we can do about it.

Am I the only one who thinks Stiemsma is a terrible player? The guy is a foul machine and can't stay on the court. I'd rather give Melo a shot..

I think terrible is quite a stretch, but I'm certainly not high on his future and usefulness to us in particular.

I think the BAE is too good of a tool for us going forward to "waste" on someone like Stiemsma.

We need the BAE to replace our injured starting SG, if we need another big (I don't know that we NEEED another) we can't use the BAE to do so.
For me it comes down to what's more important- depth option + spot starter at SG or a depth option at C?
The fact that AB is out to start the year really pushes us back into a corner as far as what we need to do with the remaining tax exception(s).

I'm not so sure that we do need the BAE to get another guard.  Hopefully, Danny can pull off this sign and trade thing with Terry (without giving up JaJuan Johnson) and use the MLE on Courtney Lee.

If that doesn't work out, then I'd be willing to guess that Peaches would come back for the minimum.
