Bulls Actively Shopping Richard Hamilton
Jul 15, 2012 11:32 AM EDT

The Bulls have contacted teams to ask about their interest in trading for Richard Hamilton, sources say, but have found little interest in the 34-year-old shooting guard.

Hamilton is due $5 million next season, with a mere $1 million guarantee for 2013-14.

Hamilton averaged 11.6 points on 45.2 percent shooting last season.

What are the Bulls doing? So far they let C.J. Watson, Kyle Korver, Omar Ashik and Ronny Brewer go. I guess they're not looking to contend anymore, sad. The Bulls along with the Celtics are the only teams in the east that can knock off the Heat.

Rip+Boston Draft Pick to Memphis
Mayo to Boston
JJJ+Dooling, etc (Maybe Moore) to Chicago???

Not sure what else we could do.

I am not sure anyone is going to want Hamilton (even with a pick thrown in) if Chicago doesn't.

Is Mayo worth JJJ, Moore and a pick?

Honestly I think Rip is the player we need right now, but many people do not believe this, do not know if the Celtics want him.

Rip is still a great shooter, what happens is that these players need motivation, and in Boston he would be motivated to Doc and veterans.

It would be the perfect replacement for Ray Allen, I have no doubt, I love Rip Hamilton, along with Reggie and Ray, the 3 best players playing without the ball.

I do wonder if the Celtics were one of those teams the Bulls contacted already.

It bothers me that the Bulls feel they have no more use for him, though.

@kp4000: Wow, they let go of that many players? Isn't that essentially they're entire bench from last season, including Rip if the Bulls do manage to dump him? Jeez.

You think he is the missing piece? He was hurt with a strained groin for 2/3 of the year and couldn't get on the court. Not someone id be to interested in at this point

Seems like Chicago is writing off next season after Rose's injury + getting rid of anyone off the roster who isn't going to be a key player on a title contender 2+ years from now.

It's what you think, but still I think Rip is a very profitable player, no players like Rip in the league, he could be perfect for the Celtics, I assure you.

Do you know who has all the blame?

They drafted a rookie PG with a lot of promise, and Watson is a generic PG that is easily replaceable ont he cheap.   Asik isn't gone yet, and if they choose to match his offer sheet, it will be easier to pay him with Rip's deal off the books.  they brought Hinrich on the cheap, a great signing, and like promising soph Jimmy Butler.

Rip's plodding offensive style of running off picks for 20 seconds really doesn't fit too well with this team, and he's not the defender Butler or Hinrich is.

why get rid of Korver/Brewer though?? if you are going to get rid of Rip as well you have no shooting guards

just because your star is injured doesnt mean you should just blow it up...I really have no idea what the Bulls plan on doing

They know D Rose probably will be out for at least half of next year, maybe more than that, and possibly all of it.  Without him, they are nothing.

Do they make sense as the third team?

Rip to Dallas, Terry to Chicago, poo-poo platter to Chicago?
