I'm less depressed about the Sully pick than I was before, but still I think Perry Jones III is gonna have a better career than both Sully or Royce.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Who we may very well regret not drafting is Tony Wroten, the guy I couldn't quit wanting even though he isn't an ideal fit for the C's.

He scored 8 points, 3 assists, and 3 rebounds in his first 7 minutes of summer league.

He finished with 19 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 turnovers.
He shot 7-8 from the FT line, and 2-3 from 3.

His shooting form looked much better and more confident.

Now he's going to be a star.

Ahhhh, I remember when Harangody tore up the summmer league.  He looked unstoppable, rebounding and nailing shots from all over.

Perhaps we shouldn't make too much of summer league games, especially just the first one.  White has skills, and some pretty unique skills at that.  I think he will be just fine.  Players with great passing skills need to play with players who make cuts and slid to open spots though.  It might take awhile for him.

But White needs the ball in his hands. It's kinda like Tebow, you need to shape your whole offense around him. How many teams want their PF dominating the ball in the NBA?

Well, maybe Houston does.

Sullinger doesn't need to dominate the ball to be a big factor. That's sweet for us.

I'm not sure how anybody could be depressed with the 6th ranked prospect falling to the Celtics at 21, especially considering his size, rebounding, scoring, and all around game.

I know a lot of people were real high on him. I'm watching this replay of the Rockets game right now and so far my first impression is im glad we didn't go out of our way to get him. He looks pretty bad, forcing the issue and looks shook offensively, no energy defensively and is getting burned, bricking free throws.

Now it's only one game but the eye test says give me Sully over him any day.
Royce White needs a lot of work. He was never going to be ready to be a contributor his first year out. Too many flaws (shot-selection, shooting ability, forced passes, over-dribbling, turnovers, learning how to defend at an NBA level).

He is, however, a guy who can make plays. Lots of different types of plays.

With strong coaching and learning how to better utilize his talent, Royce White can become a very good NBA player. It'll just take some time, patience and a lot of hard work. He is a guy that I would definitely be happy to have on Boston's roster.

Not taking too much from summer league but White hasn't impressed thus far.  It's going to be interesting to see how he turns out given his unique style of play for his position.  I do think his passing is a bit overrated though.  It wasn't like he was throwing pocket passes out of pick and rolls or breaking down defenses and dumping off dimes.  It was a lot of repetitive and basic five foot drive and kicks, drive and kicks, drive and kicks and handoff-screens.  Not the most riveting dissection of a defense  His willingness to pass and the much lower talent level in college helped him run the offense at Iowa State but it's harder to be a great distributor in the NBA with such a basic repertoire.

think Sully is gonna be ok.  At worst another Baby Davis.  Sully already seems to have a better range of shots, I remember Baby taking some TOO long shots  ???  Aggrrr.   Sully should be a more consistant than Gravy.  Baby Davis nice footwork, but had zero lift, he stood flatfooted way to much. , no inside game when he faced someone 6'10".  Sully can get his shot off against a 6 10" guy.

If Davis really is around 300 pounds, I can't believe Sullinger weighs nearly 30 pounds less than him.  Not that it makes Sullinger more explosive or anything, I think Davis actually has quicker feet but then again, Davis is a freak of nature in some ways whose agility and balance at his size had some projecting him to be a potential all-pro offensive lineman.

Their skill levels and weaknesses are pretty similar but what I like more about Sullinger is that he actually makes use of his passing ability.  In contrast, Davis is so bent on scoring that he's a black hole even though he has a flair for passing.  That's always disappointed me.  Sullinger's longer arms should give him the extra inches that Davis needed to score better inside, in theory anyway.

I know Davis was a running back/d-lineman in high school but players change positions.  Just this year, one the top offensive line prospects in the country, Arik Armstead, who is also going to play basketball at Oregon, was a d-lineman in high school but is going to play offensive line because coaches think he'll project better there.   The offensive line coach at LSU was quoted at the time that Davis gave up football saying that Davis had hall of fame type potential on the offensive line.  With his quickness and strength, he would've been just fine along the d-line as well I think.

Also, the videos of Davis playing running back were ridiculous.  He was about 340 pounds I think, with a huge butt and gut (he looked obese on the basketball court anyway) and he wasn't just running guys over.  He did spin moves and jukes and looked like a nimble running despite being like 10 times the size of the guys he was evading.

Yes everyone should be proud of our draft:

Quincy miller does NOTHING seriously NOTHING!Watch denver

PJ3 has been injured since his 2nd game (ankle , go figure)

T-Rob idk how he even scores, i been watching him on the kings and he really struggles EVERYWHERE.

Austin Rivers was not too impressive either

to be honest the only player I did not like in the draft but impressed me was Nicolson and he was balling his 1st game but after that...EHH

We actually scored in the draft guys im starting to see that. The only impressive rookies are J Lamb and Ty Talor. Lillard had 1 great game and was looking excellent but other than that noone is showing much potential. oh yea Meyers Leonard is beasting!

I still like T-Rob but he will be nothing in the NBA sorry and Sully is actally number 4 on the Rookie scale.
