Blazers will sign guard Raymond Felton to a three-year, $10 million deal and then trade him to Knicks in sign and trade, source tells Y!

That is a good contract. About what Felton is worth.

I remember watching the Blazers in a random game last year when they were on TNT or something and I was like "who is that fat round ball running around out there!?!?"

I agree that this makes the most sense.  If Lin busts, they can just "stretch" his deal.  One year at $15 million becomes 3 years at $5 million of dead money, which is easy enough for New York to absorb.

Reports suggest that New York will let him go, but I'll believe it when I see it.

It won't be $30m.  If it was $30m in year three, they would certainly match.  The Knicks might be on the hook for 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 times that amount in year three.

Teams pay $1 for every $1 their salary is above the luxury-tax threshold in 2011-12 and 2012-13. Starting in 2012-13, teams pay an incremental tax that increases with every $5 million above the tax threshold ($1.50, $1.75, $2.50, $3.25, etc.). Teams that are repeat offenders (paying tax at least four out of the past five seasons) have a tax that is higher still -- $1 more at each increment ($2.50, $2.75, $3.50, $4.25, etc.).

As Roy H. mentioned earlier, the only way the Knicks will match this offer is with the idea of waiving Lin in year three, which should go over great with Knicks fans if the kid is actually more than a two week wonder. If they waive him after two seasons, they can spread the $15m over the next three years.   years.
