Can somebody tell me what were trying to do here? This was posted just minutes ago I thought we couldn't do a sign and trade as Dallas has moved on renouncing the Jet.

Quote
#celtics are apparently trying to find a third team to facilitate a sign-and-trade with the #Mavericks for Jason Terry

Yeah, it wouldn't make much sense. They are just under the cap I think with about 4.5 million left, they could sign Terry to that then do a sign and trade, but that would make Terry take a paycut. Dallas could possibly be looking for other parts from Boston and another third team so that they can get over the cap to get the full mid level.

After I typed that I realize we couldn't take Terry in a sign and trade without his rights transferring, but they don't have rights for him anymore. It doesn't make any sense.

My guess is Dallas wants to avoid any payroll. Don't want to hurt their cap room (limit their options in any way). Willing to co-operate for a trade exception + draft pick(s).

So we'd basically have to restructure the deal Jet agreed to? It sounds like it'd be a matter of a few thousand, at least in the first year. Might not go over so well.

Yeah sounds like it. So we'd have to pay off two teams.

I'm pretty certain Dallas has yet to renounce Terry. I haven't heard or seen any such report, outside of a few random rumors.

Also, if he has been renounced, any such talks of tradi g for him would be impossible, so Dallas has o still have his rights.

I can't imagine it would be too difficult to find a team under the cap willing to take on Dooling for approx 2.5m if offered a pick.  Maybe Dooling is the one not interested in playing along.  We really can't make it work without his salary.

I always wondered how sign and trades work so if Dooling doesn't want to go to said team were screwed? I'm pretty sure he wants to be with us so not sure how that'll go over. Then again if he's not offered a contract by anybody then he should take it.

Dooling would be a fool if he refused a 100% increase in his salary and a contract for at least two years. Doesn't Detroit owe us a favor for us helping them to Sign Rashad Wallace a few years ago?

S&T = Dooling, Pietrus, JJJ and 2nd Rd. 2013, Cash Considerations To combo of Dallas Mavericks or Detroit
Pistons? Everybody gets what they need.

MLE = Courtney Lee (G)

BAE = Darko Milcic (C)

Were done.

Also it's not looking good if we ask Jet to take less money just seems like bad business doesn't it? I think we should bring our hopes down not sure Danny can pull this off.

Danny seemed pretty sure today that he was going to get something done. and the ONLY reason why they would have a press conference today with Terry there and announce he wasn't officially signed is because they are confident they will be able to work out a S&T.

If there was no chance a ST could be worked out he would have just been signed already. I trust Danny can pull this out.

This is why even when Sign & Trades makes sense, they often don't happen. Getting everyone aligned, timing the deal, keeping people from losing interest - all hard to do.

Green and Terry are Celtics.. there is no one in their right mind who thinks a team puts on a press conference and introduces the player if they sign else where. I guarantee you they have an agreement signed with both players, just havent sent them into the league because they are trying to save flexibility.
