Rockets will be a threat in the west if ever they get Howard.

Lin isn't going there anyway, I don't know why the Rockets made an offer on Lin considering that the Knicks are most probably to match that offer. It can potentially tie up many of the things they are seemingly trying to do for 3 or so days (like S&T for Lee and trying to get Howard or Bynum).

Interesting, looks like Knicks might not match after all. Wonder what ripple effects this may cause.

Happy to see Houston land a point guard.

Things were looking suspect there with Dragic + Lowry both leaving.

Jeremy Lin would be a good guy to have on the squad if they land Dwight Howard too. A high usage offensive player with a growing reputation. Lin could help convince Dwight to stay there.

Looks like Lin is going to Houston...

I cannot believe Dolan is cheaping out now when he has (possibly) the greatest Asian athlete to every wear a New York jersey, in any sport.  He is such a disaster of an owner.

The idea that Lin won't make up that $15M over three years is nonsense.  And count me as one of many who actually doesn't think he is worthy of the starting PG spot on a contender.  He sucks at defense, is a turnover machine, and plays in such a fashion that his body will not hold up.

But still...sometimes you have to make a deal for what's good for the business and I can't believe Dolan is balking at this.

It is not as simple as that 15 million.

Because of the new tax system, it will be more then 30 million that season.  More then a million for every game he has started in his career.

I know...I was talking about the extra $15M or so they would have to pay on top of his salary in terms of the tax.

It's stupid either way.  They go balls to the wall for a terrible contract like Amare's then skimp out on Lin, who will return far more $$ back to the franchise.  Makes zero sense.

Thats a Bingo.

TP for the spot on  IB reference.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

Amare was the better player.  He turned them into a playoff team.  He was an all-star before he got there.

Lin has started 25 games.  Felton (who they have signed) had a longer run with good stats on the Knicks then Lin did.

And maybe, just maybe, they know Lin is not as good as we saw.  And by year three, he is no longer making money for his team.

Had a weird thought earlier today...

Houston pulls off the trade for Howard.

Yao comes back in a backup role/fan base incentive

Free agents start flowing in before the deadline

J.Lin, S.Livingston
C.Lee, Jeremy Lamb
Terrance Jones, Gary Forbes
Royce White, Yi Jianlian
Dwight, Asik, Yao
Can't stop, Rondo!

Carmelo calls Lin's offer from Houston "ridiculous."
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1259211-jeremy-lin-carmelo-anthony-speaks-out-on-linsanitys-rockets-contract

There are far more kids running around NYC wearing Knicks jerseys with Lin's name on the back than Anthony's. It isn't even close. The only thing ridiculous here is Carmelo's jealousy, which has been apparent since day one of Linsanity. He obviously wants the competition shipped out of town -- and he's about to get his wish.

You can have many criticisms of Melo but I don't agree on this one.  $14 million dollars?  It is a ridiculous contract and the Knicks would be stupid to match it.

Not only is Lin overblown but he is a poor fit for the team.

Never been a fan of Lin's game. He is an average player who's making a robbery of Houston. The Rockets are plainly paying for the kid's "heart".

Melo is right in saying that it is a ridiculous contract.

Kid plays Asian type of game. Has limited lift. Nothing in his game is elite level. Though he's got high BBIQ.
