In reality, it is a long shot Rondo to win MVP. As long as he is in the discussion I'd be happy.

He finished eighth last year.  A top five finish in the voting this season would be cool.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas

Team and individual possessions per game play a bigger role than shooting vs passing.

In an uptempo system like Phoenix, Nash has way more possessions to add stats.

Rondo could dominate games, but if he's dominating a plodding offense, there will simply be many less possessions, less touches, less shots, and less passes.

MVP is an award for those in uptempo systems.

I agree.  It is really up to Doc if he wants to change to an uptempo team.  Now that Ray is gone we have one less reason not to play a quicker pace. With limited minutes for Pierce it could really work.  KG and PP both excellent trailers on the break (but everyone can not be the trailer).  I would really like to see Green start and Pierce coming off the bench as the featured scorer.

Rondo is great, and could be a contender.....but he shouldn't be the celts best rebounder...that is a discredit to doc.......doc did say he doesn't want people rebounding..it was written as his quote in the boston herald....so it is 99% fact....and he never argued it......it is also a ridiculous position for a real NBA coach.......as if baseball players shouldn't field either.." We'll just hit a lot of runs later dude..!"  so the celts need to hit 90%......shooting....ya, they did do goood last year.......odd...but still a crazy position.....and if you are going to give numbers...make them offensive rebound stats...not D ones....

Gotta rebound to win..!

On a fully committed running team, I could see Rondo having the kind of stats and impact that would warrant MVP consideration, but I'm not sure this is that team.

Those Phoenix teams that Nash rode to fame were incredible - Amare and Marion is as fast and athletic a frontcourt as the NBA will ever see.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

As much as I love Rondo, the MVP is a media game. The media dictates who receives the award, a recently example being Rose winning the MVP over LeBron two years ago. With that being said, Rondo isn't the most liked guy by the media.
