When I look at that stat sheet I see a pretty good reserve tbh. When he gets no minutes he gets no rhythm and he gets no stats.

I looked at all the games he played more than 16 minutes and his production while still varied didn't show the same inconsistency that you listed.

When he played over 16 minutes last season for the hawks (with a inexperienced PG and ball hog PF, oh yeah and Iso-Joe) he averaged 8.7 ppg.

Throw in that he can play point forward, is big enough to guard SFs, averaged 3 rebounds in 16 mpg and is capable of carrying an offense on his rested nights...I don't want him as a 3rd string reserve, I want him playing behind AB for the vet's minimum. Lee and Mayo both want 5M and T-mac just wants out of the 2nd round. Let's make a deal.

The reason why he gets no minutes could be because injuries may have killed his conditioning. Remember he played game 3 and played 41 minutes and put up a decent statline (12 points and 9 rebounds). Then he never put up anything close to that again for the rest of the series. Maybe the lock-out had something to do with it, but McGrady and his inconsistency has been an issue since he was traded to the Knicks. I'd rather not pass up the chance of getting Lee (I don't want Mayo) to get an injury-risk like McGrady.

That being said, I do like Mcgrady as a Third-stringer in case this team has injuries, and knowing the Celtics luck, that is bound to happen.

EDIT: And, if McGrady was that valuable, wouldn't someone have started pursuing him by now?

Well looking at that chart his minutes and shots differ greatly from game to game.  That explains the scoring inconsistency and is not unusual for any bench player that's not part of the regular rotation.  He still has some talent, but too injury prone to be reliable.  We've just been getting burned by that too much in the past few years.

I don't even think an un-injured TMac is better than Lee, but even asssuming that he is, you just can't count on him being uninjured. You have to assume that Tmac will miss half of the games bc of injury. Given that, who would you rather have, TMac or Lee? Or Tmac or Delonte West? I'd rather have Delonte West (yes, I'm serious).  That said, if DA signs TMac to the vet min to fill out the 14 or 15th spot on the roster, I'd have no problems.

We already have Pierce and Green playing over 48 minutes a game.  We have no minutes for him to spare at the 3 and he is a rhythm bulk shooter.

Would much rather have Kris Joseph on the roster learning from Pierce every day than pay McGrady to rot on the bench and offer no upside.

Agreed, but I would rather use him as a fallback option in case of injury. I want Lee signed first, and then T-Mac for the minimum.
