How do we offer up our sexy Keyon-Moore-JJJ trio in exchange for Lee when Houston's too busy to take note? Pending Asik and Lin's offers are matched, they are prepared to waive half their team, trade away a pick and their nice new rookie class, and absorb the contracts of Howard, and some 3/4 combo of Duhon, Turk, Baby, and JRich. So basically, the Houston will become 1/2 Orlando, 1/2 free space, vice versa.

Seems like this is the offer that might actually go through for Dwight. Is this going to affect our chances at landing Lee? At the very least, it will delay the process even longer for us as we need to wait on the Knicks and Bulls' decisions. That probably isn't good for us, especially as Wilcox, Peaches, etc. field other offers.

as morey will be clearing cap space to absorb as possible salary from orlando, the way the c's could get involved is by arranging for there outgoing salary to go to the magic. The magic may be receptive as they be way under the cap after the trade and would be looking to add picks that the c's offer. As the rockets have a ton of power forwards to send orlando, it would probably means that JJJ would stay. If Morey can get the c's involved and offer picks for lee it is to his advantage as they help him get dwight.

so a possible trade might be

orlando gets

martin
parsons
lamb
whyte
jones
dooling
etwuan

plus picks from c's and houston plus cash (for dooling buyout from c's)

rockets get

DH
Turk
j richardson
duhon
q richardson

c's get

Lee

This is actually very good for us.  Dwight going to Houston instead of LA (and of course the Nets) is very good for us.

If I am correct, Lee is a UFA.  Houston has no influence on who he signs with, unless a sign-and-trade is necessary.

You'd think Houston would take JJJ and a first with whatever else is necessary because that would just sweeten the deal for the Magic.

Might Lee get traded to Orlando as part of a Howard deal? Seems logical considering history there.

The Lee sign and trade is held up because of Howard.

They are trying to figure out the best package and who knows how Lee fits into that.

Maybe.  But the only pro or us is that the Magic will suck once Howard is gone.  And since Lee is a free agent, he doesn't have to  agree to a sign and trade there.

But while I do think Lee wants to play for a winner, if the money is right, he may chance his mind.

Right -- guess my point was that could allow him to get paid, assuming they want him. However Orlando may prefer to just get as much flexibility as possible, with as few guys not on rookie contracts coming bask as possible.

What if Dwight plays there for a year and then bails..Wouldn't the Rockets worry he could just walk? Or even worse, Dwight would realise he can't be sign+traded to NJ and then demand to be sent to the Lakers for Bynum?
What a nightmare.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

This is actually good for us, in order to get Lee we will need to send the Rockets picks. Orlando will want picks from Houston to make a deal. I wouldn't be shocked if we end up being the third team in this deal.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I also wouldn't be shocked if Lee just gets paid more than we could from Minnesota.

If Lee wants to come to the C's I'm betting it will happen.

Listening to first take this morning, I wouldn't be surprised if Houston trades for Howard, they don't bring Lee back.

I doubt it. The first round pick is another asset in their coffers that they can use to land Dwight Howard (or some other star in a trade). I would expect Morey to be trying to push this (or some equivalent or superior deal) through to further his quest to trade for a star.

They apparently have offered all three of this years 1st round players, the Toronto pick and will be taking back all the bad contracts.

Does one more late 1st really make a difference?

are prepared to absorb the contracts of Jason Richardson, Glen Davis and Chris Duhon -- in addition to sending Orlando multiple future first-round picks and recent draftees -- to give the Magic an opportunity to wipe their payroll virtually clean for their post-Howard rebuilding effort.

Houston officials, though, remain steadfast in their belief that, even if the Bulls decline to match on Asik, they'll be able to absorb at least three of the four aforementioned Magic role players: Richardson, Davis, Duhon and Turkoglu. Sources say the Rockets would have to send Kevin Martin, Patrick Patterson, Marcus Morris and Chandler Parsons to the Magic from their current roster to make the salary-cap math work, as well the draft rights to Jeremy Lamb, Royce White and Terrence Jones, all selected in last month's first round.

The Rockets, in addition, would have to waive a handful of players with nonguaranteed contracts (Shaun Livingston, Courtney Fortson, Josh Harrellson, Jerome Jordan, Jon Leuer, Diamon Simpson and Greg Smith) to clear sufficient cap space. But Houston, sources say, is also offering multiple first-round picks to the Magic, including a potential lottery pick acquired this week from Toronto in the Kyle Lowry deal.

They can't afford to take back any contracts they can't waive right away.
