Kris Humphries - F - Nets
The Bobcats are reportedly in discussions with free agent F Kris Humphries.
The Bobcats could certainly use some help at power forward, as Byron Mullens and Tyrus Thomas currently sit atop their depth chart. We've been waiting for Humphries' name to show up in some free agency rumors not related to Dwight Howard and it finally happened. Let's just hope whoever his girlfriend is at the time can handle a move to Charlotte.

Price tag would be the biggest consideration.

Hopefully for less than what the Cats are currently paying Ty Thomas (3 years, $26 million).

Sounds like it'll be right around the same neighborhood as Thomas:

Numbers circulating in Kris Humphries' bidding war: Word is Nets offering three-year deal worth $24 mil; Bobcats offering three years, $22M

Don't quite get it for the Cats: I figured Rich Cho would be more judicious in using their cap space to improve the team.

Nets have money to burn, and could use a rebounding specialist now that they're bringing Lopez back.

  • It's what I do! It's who I am!
3 years of Humphries? Different city, same result. 12 and 10 and a loss.

Why waste money on him when Charlotte could just put in an aggressive claim for Scola?

I wouldnt be surprise to see the Bobcats get Brendan Haywood and Antwan Jamison. Both are Tar Heels boys and both want to play there.

C--Brandon Haywood
PF-Kris Humphries
SF-Antwan Jamison
SG-Ben Gordon
PG-Ramon Sessions
Bench
Tyrus Thomas
Michael Kidd Gilchrist
Kemba Walker
Bismack Biyombo
Reggie Williams
Byron Mullins
Gerald Henderson
Dont think they will sign both Humphries or Jamison, but u never know

Not a bad team..30 wins maybe
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Is Kris Humphries a better player than Ty Thomas?

Well, he's certainly better than Thomas last year.  36.7% FG% is despicable for a power forward.

Is Kris Humphries a better player than Ty Thomas?

Yes, but not to the point where it will matter. In my book it's like saying Corey Maggette is better than Caron Butler at this point in their careers. Either way, it's not going to make your team demonstrably better.

b/c it is now being said by larry coon that to get an amnesty player with a NON-guaranteed contract, the offer has to be the difference of the money owed to the player during the last year of his deal aka the non-guarenteed part of it. so it is going to be slightly more then 10 million a season to claim scola for any team under the cap until he clears waivers completely

Nah, that is all the agent, "bidding war" is unlikely, highly unlikely....

That was an inaccurate post by Hoopsworld.  The number for an under the cap team to claim Scola starts at $10m for the three years.  That's a lot better than giving Kris Humphries $22m

Humphries is better than Scola right now and the gap is only going to grow as the years go by.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Humphries is better than Scola right now and the gap is only going to grow as the years go by.

So you'd rather have Humphries at $7m a year times 3 over Scola at $3m times 3 years?

If this is true, then why couldn't they get a Dwight Howard trade done?
