per ESPN:

"The Dallas Mavericks switched up their center position on Wednesday by agreeing to terms with Chris Kaman and then deciding to waive Brendan Haywood via the amnesty provision."

If he clears, I think he's a solid option. Not as sexy as  Darko but I like him.

I'm all for it. He's a true center who would really help this team out, especially at the vet min.

May need to save the BAE to sign him. He might even command more on the open market.

Haywood would be a perfect pick up for us at center. He';d give us some real nasty that would go well with KG and Sully ( who I also think will show us some nastiness this season). WE really need that.

Two thoughts:

1. How much will us having Jason Terry here already affect us being able to pull Haywood into town as well?

2. My worst fear is that he chooses to join the evil empire down in Miami.

But if we can get Haywwod and bring back Steamer or Wilcox - this team will be as stacked as it's ever been since KG arrived.

We would be able to play any type of ball we need too - Bully Ball,Small Ball, Fast Ball - whatever...

I really hope we get him - he's no superstar but he's exactly what we need.

maybe the fact that they already beat Miami together in Dallas will provide Haywood more incentive to come join an old teammate in Boston and try to do it again.

That's an interesting take. Don't know what kind of relationship Haywood and Terry have.

BTW, I found this old article back when Haywood and James were part of that Wizards-Cavs playoff series:

Have no idea if Haywood still thinks of LeBron this way.

He isn't going to make it out the waivers  >:(

Haywood now goes into a special waiver wire where for the next 48 hours teams under the salary cap can bid to take over a portion of his contract and get his services. It is believed the Bobcats would put in a bid, other teams may as well. Highest bid wins.

Former Tarheel, so I guess Charlotte wants him for veteran leadership and gate revenue.

But given the Cats' roster, it's not a good fit. They already have Mullens, Diop (amnesty candidate?), and Biyombo (better C than PF) at the 5.
