Darko has been overrated/over-payed his whole career, but maybe if we offer the min he might actually be worth it. I think a big 7 footer is never bad, especially if he can spell KG off the bench.  He did have a decent year 2 seasons ago, averaging 8 and 5 in only 24 minutes, which is what we might want him to do for the Celtics.

If the Celtics go after Lee and can't afford Krstic, this might be the best FA option the C's have at center.

Absolutely. I'll take all the depth at center we can take. And while I don't have high hopes for him, I think he can be better than Ryan Hollins, cuz, well he's Ryan Hollins.

Darko could conceivably make it through waivers.  If he does, yeah, I'd take him at the minimum.

Also, Krstic re-signed in Russia.

Sure, if he makes it through the bidding process.

So many big men are being amnestied, it seems like a one or two of them might actually clear the amnesty waiver process.

I really want to say yes.  I still think there's a chance he can make it in this league (albeit as a backup big), but i don't think that it's going to happen in Boston.

He just can't seem to get his head on straight and, what's worse, it's hard to tell if his heart is in it anymore.  I don't think that's a recipe for success on a roster with KG on it.

Why amnesty Darko? It seems like such a pointless move.

Is a he a problem behind the scenes in the locker room? Because that is the only reason I can think of that makes any sense.

Edit: Sorry, I hadn't read the link yet. Appearently they need to do so to sign Batum to that offer sheet. I thought they were far enough below the cap to sign Batum without waiving anyone. My mistake.

I'd take Darko and a second.  He is not a great starting center, but as a backup, he is decent, and I actually think he would fit in well to Boston's system.

Darko has always been a dog on D. KG would never speak to him after two lazy practices. Pass.

"Need" to sign Batum is a matter of perspective, no? Because if I was on the outside of the playoffs looking in, I don't think I'd be giving Nic Batum 11 mil a season.

I think he's been an okay defensive center if you're looking at backup quality.

i'd pass. i don't know if any of ya'll are into advanced stats but:
http://www.thenbageek.com/players/186-darko-milicic

he has had a negative WP48 (wins produced per 48 minutes) for most of his career, aka when he's on the floor he's costing his team wins. aka i'd pay him to NOT be on my team lol

I don't think the question with Darko was ever the skills or his capacity to get better but rather he lacks the desire. I just don't see it as a good fit with the Cs and KG who we all know will shut out players who don't take his...ahem...advice.  See Patrick O'Bryant and many others.

I am from Serbia and I can tell you that Darko is a very weird and unpredictable. It may happen to be a great teammate, but also problematic and unmotivated. With him you never know. Rick Adelman is not able to cope with it, I do not think that Doc and KG have patience. He is very talented, but I think that this is not enough. To be Celtic must be aware of what team you play. Darko is my namesake, but I have to say NO!
