We are at 12 and will have to sign at least one more big if not 2.  One will probably be Stiemsma, especially now that Minny is working on a trade with Portland for Batum.
Those talks broke down, they're signing Batum to an offer sheet and Portland is expected to match it.

So Greg is likely going to Minnesota for more money than we can compete with.

If he was willing to sign for that little I'm sure we'd have offered it to him.

Pietrus is going to be looking for more money than that, and rightfully so.

If we can't get Lee, then Pietrus becomes pretty important. With the TWolves going after Lee, it might be smart to just sign Pietrus assuming Lee will leave for more money.(like Terry)

If he wants to be a Celtic so bad, offer him last year's salary + 20% (that's the most we can offer, I think) and see if he'll accept it. I might be wrong, but I think that would just about be the same as the BAE, anyway, and the C's need to reserve that to use on a big. It won't get a very good big, but with the MLE already committed it's all the C's have left.

If Pietrus wants more, he's going to have to wait and see if the C's can bring in a big without using the BAE. If so he can have that, if Danny offers it, of course. If *that* isn't enough, then he won't be a Celtic this year. That's just the way the money works out.

Personally, I'd like to get both Lee and bring Mike back. I liked what Pietrus was giving the team between his knee getting a bit better and his head being bounced off the court. Before and after, not so much, but that's understandable. As for Lee, at 26, he could be both a long term piece and a short term piece.

A Rondo/Bradley/Terry/Lee back court quartet to go with a Pierce/Green/Bass/Sullinger/KG front court quintet would be a very strong rotation over the next 2 or 3 years. Having youth and experience in the rotation and on the bench (Pietrus, Joseph, Melo, ?Wilcox?, ?JJJ?) would form a bridge into the post KG/Pierce years. The C's would have good assets to use in trades for the next superstars and experience complementary pieces to put around them.

Probably, a pipe dream, though. I doubt the C's can snag Lee and I doubt Pietrus wants to be a Celtic more than he wants a bigger payday.

If they can't get Batum won't they just keep Darko? Or are they going to amnesty him before we know the Batum asnwer?

Pietrus is not the answer. If we do not upgrade his spot we are going no where>

I really think is says something about Boston that players who come here, especially as NBA veterans really want to stay and play here. Pietrus and Wilcox also have played for a number of teams and their outwardness about how much they love being a Celtic really speaks to how good the fanbase and team is to play for.

I don't think this is his official Facebook page.  It looks like a fan page.

No, I'm almost certain it is his own page.

If Pietrus doesn't come back I'm going to miss his accent

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I will be really disappointed if we don't bring him back. He is quite versatile and is very good for team cameraderie. Even if Lee or another solid wing does come here, there is no reason he can't play the Marquis Daniels role. Injuries happen and he can be plugged in and provide solid defense, energy, and spot-up shooting. It will be a real shame if we don't get him.

Oh look a free agent who actually loves playing for the Celtics. Lets see how Celtics will screw up this one too.

I don't think Mickael Pietrus is looking for a bigger pay day than the vet. minimum.  I just think he's looking for Danny Ainge to offer him his job back.

Do it, Danny.

Joseph looks more solid than Pietrus. Want to make sure he gets a spot. Same with Dionte Christmas and Moore.

Time to get some young blood on the parquet!
