I absolutely think we need to look into Haywood. Our C depth is concerning and acquiring Haywood would create significant flexibility in our 4/5 rotation.

It wouldn't suprise me if he received substantial (BAE / MLE) offers in the open market. Hopefully, he'll accept less.

He will be up for the amnesty bid process now.  All teams with cap room will be able to bid on him.

In other words, not Boston, not Miami, not the Lakers, not Brooklyn, not the Knicks, etc...

If we still haven't made any of our signings official, do we have a bit of cap space? I'm not talking anything major but enough to bid on Haywood?

Unfortunately he doesnt decide what team he ends up with. The team that bids the most gets him. The same thing happened with Chauncey Billups last year, he wanted to sign with the Heat, but Clippers was the team that offered the most in the Amnesty Process.
Jack of all trades, master of none.

No, because there are cap holds on KG, Jeff Green, Bass, etc... KG's cap hold is bigger than his contract.  We would have to give up the rights to some of those guys.

There would still be cap holds, which must be pretty high for KG.

Darko Milicic will also likely be amnestied, FWIW.

I hear he may be better than Carmelo Anthony and Dwyane Wade!

It seems like amnestied guys can be signed and traded, maybe after 30 days?  Anyone know?

Do Philly or Minny still have cap room?

I could see Haywood being very useful to both teams - a defensive minded alternate to Hawes and Pek respectively.

He'd be great here though.  He'd make a nice JO replacement.

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari

You can't sign Haywood outright. He has to go through the amnesty process where teams under the cap (not us) bid for his contract.
