Why Courtney Lee for a 1st is amazing for us

• Courtney Lee is perfect for this team. He's a 40% 3 point shooter and will thrive running along Rondo. He'll also give you great defense. In Doc's system, he could be nurtured into Ray Allen's role (as a spot up shooter).
  
  
• I believe that when KG retires, the team will plummet into mediocrity. He's our soul and engine, and why the Celtics are so dominant defensively. We only have about a 3 year window left. Replace him with Hibbert or Marc Gasol, and this team is not contending anymore. That's why we need to collect pieces that will help us NOW - young, good defenders that can shoot and score some.
  
  
• The 2013 draft is not going to be as deep as it was this year. A late first rounder should not be worth too much for us because we have plenty of young rookies/sophomores already. A first has value with a team stockpiling/rebuilding like the Rockets - We should take advantage of that.
  
  With a Bobcats pick, we would have an early 2nd rounder. Hopefully the talent pool is about the same around that pick range.

If the Rockets would take any number of our 2nd rounders for Lee, I'd jump on that. But if Lee is worth a 1st round pick to them, we should pounce on the opportunity.

Will still have to send salary to come within a certain amount of Lee's first year salary.

My guess is Williams and Moore's non-guaranteed salaries are two contracts that go along with JaJuan Johnson's.

A player picked around 24/25 most likely isn't going to be as good as Lee anyway. Sign me up.

I don't feel a pick is the problem.  It's the money.  How are we going to get to Lee's asking price ?  What is he asking for ?

It's going to take a combination of contracts, with probably a sign & trade with Pietrus or Dooling involved.

i.e. 2nd round pick, Dooling + Johnson + Moore = Lee

With 8 other teams involved, I would think they'd have the better package in place instead of Boston.  Tough move for Danny on this one.  We'd all like him, but the numbers are tough to get done.

Well, there really isn't much room for a rookie next year.  If we get Lee for JJJ, Dooling, and a 1st, our lineup will look like this.

SG: Bradley, Lee
SF: Pierce, Green
PF: Bass, Sullinger
C: KG, Melo

Add in the non-guaranteed contracts of Moore, Joseph, plus our mini-MLE Free Agent, there is little to no room for anybody on that roster.

Summer league is a good showcase for Moore and Johnson. Worst case is they stick with the celtics and are practice players not cracking the rotation. Best case is the get shipped put for parts that actually can contribute

There should be. Hopefully the C's get out to a strong start so the rookies can get more playing time.

The first step is convincing Lee to sign here.  I don't think the negotiations with Houston will be all that difficult once that hurdle is overcome.

Pretty sure it will take a 1st rounder.  In any case if it can't get done, I like the backup plan of resigning Pietrus for defense and some shooting at the 2. Frankly, the way Moore and Johnson are paying in SL, I'd like to keep them and see if either develops.  Problem is that with the rookies its awful lot of young guys for a contending roster. (4-5)

actually best case is they both turn into rotation-quality players this year for the Celtics.

Lee is an updgrade at shooting guard.

And he is better than Ray Allen at this point
