Don't get me wrong, I'm really sick of his decision and it's a bad decision. To leave a team full of pride and history for a bunch of superstars where he will be forgotten.

But, I ran into this movie, and man this is a thing of beauty. Really capturing the emotion well and like celticslife posted on twitter 'I shed a teer of 2' while watching this.

Man oh man Ray, you wanted this so bad? Should have come back like Kevin did. But it gave me goosebumps seeing Allen have teers in his eyes, cus you almost never see any emotion in Ray Allen's eyes.

This Boston Celtics 2011-2012 goes down for me as one of the greatest teams in NBA history that did not win. What a family

Ray did what he thought was best for him.   I for one, am thankful for the Title and five good years for the most part.

To be honest, that's what drives me crazy about this whole situation.  It's not just that he left, it's not just that it's Miami, it's that he really seems to have made a bad decision.

If he had decided to go to Chicago (assuming Rose was healthy and they were a contender) for the MLE over 3 years, I could've totally understood.  He'd be starting on a contender, making good money, and having a shot at being the guy who put the Bulls over the top.

Now, he's going into a situation where he likely won't start, he'll be making half the money, and even if he wins a title, he'll be viewed as a good who came to mooch a title off of LeBron and Co., not the guy who put them over the top.

I'm done.  That's his decision.  But it just seems to defy logic, particularly when the Avery Bradley injury likely would've mitigated the whole starting issue with him.

I don't concur with this.

For Ray, it was an ok decision. Here's why ...

The man's 37, not 34. From here till 40, any slight accident or injury could render much of his SG game into no man's land. And unfortunately, given the way the game is played, it can happen rather easily when overplayed.

With the above in mind, if he stayed on the Cs or move on to ChiTown, the chances are that he'll play a lot of minutes, with the notion, since Rivers/Thibs have total confidence in him, that he'll carry the team on a barrage of 3 pointers a/o 18-20 footers.

I think it's quite the opposite now. Ray Allen is basically turning into the past 35 year old Robert Horry of the Spurs. When he's fully rested, he can hit the money ball in the fourth quarter or whenever Miami's got its opponent over the team foul limit, Allen can cap off the game from the free throw line. That's basically a game of 10 to 15 mins per contest and even at the age of 39, Allen can do that without many issues.

Thus, it's an easier job to help segway into a more permanent retirement. And I suspect that if he's injury free, then Riley may even extend his contract into his early forties.

Then he shouldn't have been upset about coming off the bench. He could have done the same thing here. He could have asked for less minutes.
Back to wanting Joe fired.

Then why did he ask Danny for more money than he was offered?  He wanted to feel the love from the Celtics the way KG was getting it from management.
We all think we know more than we really do....

Thanks for showing this video. Hate to see you leave Ray. Thanks for all the great memories and I will always think of you as a Celtic. I'm still proud to own your jersey.

Well, here's the thing ... Doc and Ainge both depict a type of split personality regarding newbies vs Vets. On one hand, they talk about the Youth Movement and getting younger but then, when push comes to shove, they tend to overplay the Vets. When this message vacillates back and forth, for years at a time, at some point, it affects the person looking for a stable point in his life. Ray's crisscrossed the nation and was an Army brat. And we all know Army brats, they pretty much grow up, never feeling like they belong to a particular community. I've seen this with college classmates, who'd grew up in the US base on Okinawa or Italy but didn't have ethnic ties to those nations. I'm a native Massachusetts person, I've traveled the world but have only called one place home. In fact, that was probably the only reason why I didn't move to Houston for a better career opportunity. Yes, I lost out (could have been executive director/VP) but at heart, I'd never be Texan, even if I liked barbecued Brisket or Rodeo.

I think Riley's basic message to Ray was, "It's LeBron's team but guess what? ... LeBron will set you up for a smooth finale. And unlike our friends up north, your role is set for the remainder of your career."

And given the fact that LeBron did serenade the man, & it wasn't just Pat doing a dog/pony show, I think the idea settled in that this was Ray's Robert Horry transition in the league.

Well, the idea is that an overwhelming amount of money would make anyone take any job, whether or not it was a good fit. For instance, for me to move to NYC, I'd need not twice but three times my salary in Boston. That would make it easier to deal with the day-to-day BS of the big city vs eastern MA.

It's still hurting a bit, but I like our new team, I think it's better then last year. Just hope everybody stays healthy.

Still I love the video and it's a great movie about what he did in Boston. Loads of highlights. 2 bad he doesn't return to a team with pride and honour. He will be forgotten in Miami.
